I completely agree. Funny story: I open the door for people a lot. In one instance where I opened a door for a man, he flat out refused to walk through it. He held up everyone walking behind us because, for some reason, he just would not walk through the door that I held open for him. He just looked annoyed and tried to force me to go first, as if my holding the door open for him was some kind of inconvenience...

Jade Marie I’m sorry, is there another gender you want to inform me that I am? There’s only men and women. Men are males, women are females. There’s no difference between female and woman unless you’re talking about age, and I had to grow up fast so I’ve been a woman for a minute now.

Julia marie Attard Independence from what? Men? That’s impossible to achieve. Feminism defined by most contemporary feminists today is the equality of rights for men and women. Ok, equality of rights to what extent? Can a man do everything women can do, and can a man do everything a woman could do? No. The problem with feminism today is that it’s teaching women to become more like men and for men to become more like women. Your whole ideology is based on the fallacy that men and women are equal in an absolute context, therefore their rights should reflect that. Men and women are obviously inherently different, so why give them equal absolute rights? Give men and women EQUITABLE rights. Justice can not always be served under equal rights, but only under equitable rights.

@Emcstea that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. You're insinuating that all men open doors for women as a way to sexually harass women. That is fundamentally absurd. I'm willing to bet that you don't even know the objective behind a pickup line. I'll give you a hint, it's not to get in a woman's panties. Your narrow-mindedness is only serving to further divide men and women. Not every man is trying to get you into bed with them. I know this sounds harsh, but life is harsh and trying to say that something courteous offends you actually offends me. Here is my question to you... How long are you going to let a bad experience you had dictate what you do in your life?
@cxx23
@cxx23 5 жыл бұрын
@Emcstea I had a hard time understanding your grammar but I understood the last line. So I'll just respond to that. "It's come to if I show you kindness and be grateful, it's a cue for you to demand something of me. This is how we got here." This shows me that you're equating some of your bad experiences with immature men to being the behavior of men in general. This is absolutely unrealistic. I open the door for everyone, and then I expect nothing back from them, and I generally never see them again. The point is to show kindness to others because we're all here together, and life is hard enough without yet another scowl in the streets. So we smile, and we do what we can for complete strangers. Your view on men as a whole is very skewed, and I genuinely hope that you're proven wrong in person someday. I know that comments on KZbin aren't going to do it for you. Much love and respect to both of you.

@@dominicdannies7482 I agree on some level to that statement however there are teens who are intelligent and passionate about politics, issues happening in the country, etc. who have a voice that deserves to be heard. Am I the only one who thinks guys choose to hold doors for girls just to look at their butts? I’d honestly much rather open my own door or for others, and that’s just the part of me that would rather help people than be helped. If somebody holds it open for me boy or girl I usually go into a mini fight saying “no you go ahead, no you” lol but honestly you say your mother taught you. Its not just polite, it’s common sense. Like if somebody is right behind you or has a lot of things you might as well hold the door open. I just learned to hold doors open cuz I’m a decent human being but nobody would call me a gentlemen tho cuz that’s a masculine term. Saying that it’s a “gentlemen” thing to do, you almost label it as something a man should do and not women. I know that probably wasn’t your intention but that’s how I perceived it. I appreciate when ANYONE holds the door open for me because that’s just the KIND thing to do. I don’t appreciate it anymore just cuz a guy does it. I’d only appreciate it more if it was an old person cuz out of respect I should be holding the door for them for being older if anything.

Totally agree, if people want equality we have to be equal. This is why chivalry is so old fashioned to me, it’s typically a masculine thing to be chivalrous and to pay for the meal on a date, hold open doors, pull the chair out for the lady. When in fact if people want equality between the genders (as I do) women should split the cheque the man, hold open their own doors. Y’know I just find the fact women are “weaker” a load of rubbish.

Equality is more about how you should be treated in society as humans instead of your sex. So you get the same advantages. You get the same opportunities, and you can choose the type of roll you want instead of being forced into it. This plays into choosing your roll, and what you find attractive. You are not saying all men have to be X or they are bad. You are saying instead for me personally I require X out of a relationship, and am willing to seek out the people who enjoy that. They will probably also bring other more traditional rolls into their own relationship, but not believe that that is a structure that others are obligated to maintain.

A lot of disadvantages for men result from the system of patriarchy, we fail to realise that patriarchy as a system negatively affects not just women but also negatively affects men in certain ways -losing custody of child cause childcare is considered to be a 'feminine' quality/responsibility -drafted into war cause women are considered to be too weak to fight in a war and men are supposed to be the protectors and providers in a patriarchy etc.

I once dated a guy who did all the typical "chivalrous" stuff - opening doors, pulling out seats, offering jacket, etc. But then he was always late to pick me up, got annoyed if I wasn't available to take his calls, and mansplained everything to me. From his perspective, he was very respectful to me because he did all the respectful, chivalrous things. But from my perspective, he didn't respect my time, my needs, or my intelligence. I definitely prefer men who respect me as a person and not as a little woman who needs doors opened for her.

When we're talking about being "chivalrous", it means being a gentleman. And being annoyed because he didn't get what he want, is not chivalrous.

My friend named Ali suffered an allergic reaction from a vaccination and it damaged both her eyesight and hearing. I will not allow myself or my children to be vaccinated until they do more testing (because there is barely any testing and research on vaccinations) and tests to see if you're allergic or not before they give it to you. It can prevent any suffering. My family has rarely been sick and we are all not vaccinated. I've never had the flu in my life. Wash your hands, keep your hands clean. It’s a traditional thing some people teach their boys how to treat other women politely universally because it’s not just one thing that occurs just here( in the USA) many ethnicities and cultures practice chivalry
@deeplyconfused13
@deeplyconfused13 5 жыл бұрын
@@wonderwomangamer5196 But that was the lady's point, this tradition came from a time and a mindset that thought women were inherently fragile, delicate, needing protection and help. That is why it started. I know men now thinking they're just being polite, and that's totally understandable, but in some ways it feeds into out dated ideas. It's different if you see a lady struggling with a very heavy suitcase, she might genuinely need help. But women can open doors. I think we should hold the door open for anyone if you want to be polite :)
