correct, this is the maid, or the female version of being the 'nice guy' (anxiously attached, afraid to establish boundaries and communicate needs for fear of abandonment). women are maids, or nice girls, and men are butlers, or nice guys - you aren't your true self, an equal, you're a servant to the other person's needs and boundaries. obviously the resentment and shame will build up over time and the relationship will end because you can only keep up the act for so long. once you address the attachment issue, i.e. your fear and dishonesty, you can begin building mutually beneficial, mutually respectful relationships.

Man here. It's not so much that a woman isn't a challenge, but that she is being dishonest. It's like being surrounded by yes-men (e.g. an arch-villain surrounded by henchmen that always agree with whatever he says). You know they aren't giving their honest opinion and they are just saying those things to please you, because they think that's what you want to hear. And it actually leads to a certain level of distrust and suspicion of people's motives, almost like you are being objectified and used. So ladies, please - have the courage to be yourself around a man that you want, and don't pedestalize and treat him like an object. Instead, get to know him as a real person and figure out how you can truly best serve him, as his feminine PARTNER not as a worshipper. Hint: the best way to serve him doesn't include being dishonest about your needs and desires

When you put up boundaries, toxic men will generally exit quickly. They're either looking for something quick and easy and/or a person they can control. They're not interested in taking their time and getting to know someone. It's usually their way or the highway.

One thing you can look for is integrity (doing what he says he will do). Having high standards are also part of this, but you have to look at several sides of his standards: A leader has higher standards for himself than for others. So, a man may have high standards for a woman in his life, but what you want to look for is: does he have even higher standards for himself? If he has higher standards for others than for himself, then this is an entitled man, not a leader. For example, I love it when a woman brings gifts (usually food) when she visits me. I also do this, and I'm fact I think this is common manners - whenever you visit someone far away it's important to bring a gift, it's part of hospitality. So I have a standard that says "a woman who is interested in me will bring gifts" but I also have that standard for myself. I also enjoy when a woman cools for me BUT I am actually a great cook. I cool for myself, I cook for women - I consider a woman who refuses to cook for me to be incredibly rude and selfish, but that's because I tale it for granted that people cook off each other and I expect to cook for women and do a great job of it. So, I have certain standards for women but I also have higher standards for myself, and that's what makes me a man with high standards, not an entitled man
