Interestingly, the Worm Guys were aliens designed by the prop guys without Barry Sonnenfeld's permission. They weren't even gonna be in the movie! Then, Barry wanted to show a scene that showed there was a coffee room at the MIB Headquarters, and he wanted there to be aliens in it. So, the prop guys apprehensively showed him the Worm Guys, knowing they could get in trouble if he didn't like them, seeing as they had designed and made them without permission. He loved them! So much so that he gave them a bigger role in the sequel.
