Today Chris takes the Pugs into the dark recesses of social status and asks questions few are willing to ask. For example: Why do so many women who apply to rent Chris's apartments have so much student loan debt, and such low credit scores? Why do young men in the trades with no debt and good income still lose out to flashy guys with tons of debt who flash shiny objects? And, can contemporary culture change its ways of measuring worth to reflect reality and not the image-generated fantasies of people on the make in higher education, corporate America, and left-wing ideologues? Tune in for these questions and many more!

I remember a former pastor of mine in a sermon was using the illustration about being a man and the coming of age ceremony that some cultures have. He gave the example of an interview that Manute Bol gave when he came over from Africa to play in the NBA. the question asked of him was “given your tall but very slim frame. Are you concerned about the physicality of these men who are sometimes 2 1/2 times your weight and strength”, and his response was “as a boy I killed a lion with a stick, I’m not afraid of men and sneakers“

A good work ethic is attractive, whether blue collar or white collar. I will say, it is nice when a man knows how to fix things and is hands on. I'm hands on myself (fiber arts, etc.) so I can appreciate that.

Enjoyable episode! With Herod, who was struck down for failing to give God glory, this happened when he was publicly credited with being a god by the people of Tyre and Sidon. Interestingly, the book of Acts narrates this episode immediately after Herod had killed James and imprisoned Peter, who miraculously escaped with the help of an angel. He persecuted the church and executed soldiers who were powerless to prevent Peter's escape, but the specific sin he was put to death for was failing to give God glory. Although one might say that all three are linked.

I'm surprised that the effects of the feminism movements weren't mentioned as a contributing factor to what is taking placw

I am an atheist. I wouldn't normally even give a chance to content from a channel such as this but the subject of hypergamy in the tittle got my attention. I respect the fact that the discussion acknowledges the fact that it exists in the first place, in my experience christan conservatives refuse to accept it due to its implications. That said I do have some SERIOUS constructive criticism about the section of this conversation about hypergamy. Firstly there was discussion of how men with lots of money can get beautiful women without furtger discussing the extent to which women are generally only with those men for the money and thats highly relevant, in fact thats an hour long conversation itself. In addition to that genetic studies now reveal most women have reproduced and most men have not going back many thousands of years. Even today several studies reveal most women find 80% of men unattractive, 70% of divorces are filed by women, and Im not going to even get into the data coming from dating sites. None of this should really be surprising if your a strict darwinist such as myself who believes sexual selection is real and when we look around the animal kingdom it is a general rule that most males in any given species are going to be left out. That is what sexual selection does. And theres so much more to talk about. All of this is only part of it. Hypergamy goes much much deeper and its implications are much more serious than we may want to admit.

HHHmmm.....I was a corrections officer in N.Y.S. DOCS. Honor and shame is still alive and well in that culture. And it's what landed a majority of those guys in there. What if our legal system was honor based? Better thought what if it was Biblically based?

It's not that I disagree that honor/shame is not an intrinsic element of Christianity, which I belive the internal evidence of the Scripture demonstrates that it is, but that it is also clear thet God's "Law" is also evident without question and which predates Greco-Roman law. Does not this antiquity of God's Law, which includes guilt/innocence, demonstrate that honor/shame and guilt/innocence are simultaneous, intertwined, and intersupportive.
