I made sure to ask anyone I was dating if their parents were still married, and that situation. My ex-wife I thought I was safe on because her parents were married. Granted I didn't know what a Narcissist was until the divorce, but I figured it all out, and nope not even that stopped her. Its more about observing the red flags so you know when to eject! I have a feeling she was misunderstood growing up, she did get married (1965) but he wound up being an alcoholic, probably wound up unhappy with her if I'm honest, he was a bit older, probably hitting the panic button. Anyways, she always called out neighbors for being whores and whatnot. She would always defend my dry spells when her friends would ask about me being single. Proud of that and can easily go another 5-10... it's when God says I'm ready, and I will keep working towards being ready and take my sweet time because having this standard means that God's got the catch, just needs to reel us in together when the time is right. 10 years taught me mad patience, but also protected me from SOOO much potential hurt and trauma. I don't know how it is where you live, but here in the Netherlands girls ride the ''carousel'' from an early age. They try to avoid being called sl8t by going into relationships, all short term relationships of about 7 months max, with overlap ofcourse. I didn't stay single by choice. The only woman I ever loved who loved me back was killed in a car wreck in January 1995. It was three years before I even thought about dating again. I spent the next fifteen years trying to find someone else who would love me the way she did. I gave up in July 2013, after still another disaster of a first date. There was NO point in trying anymore. I was 46, and that's too old to start a family. Soon I'll have 57 years behind me. It's a race between heart disease and cancer to see which one will get me. I just don't care anymore. My Estate goes to charity. That's better than to a golddigger who doesn't give a damn about me. These same words apply to my Toxic kin. We haven't spoken in almost eight years, some over ten, and I have NO reason to change that. I'm at peace with my fate. Really not giving us a choice but to remain single...... when you become self aware, and are constantly seeking self awareness, constantly seeking the why to the thing we call life..... you kind of realize a western relationship would be a hinderance to this. You desire your inner eye to be wide opened, and realize that the relationships that social media, dating apps, and reality television are offering would keep you from this. Been in a toxic relationship myself for years with a girl who’s been mentally unstable and at the end it backfired on me. I'm just trying to live life my way man. After my last relationship ended, I gave online dating a shot for a short time and the whole experience was so overwhelmingy negative that I kinda just stopped giving a fuck about dating. I've got my dog and my hobbies and if the right girl comes along in my day to day life cool, if not, whatever i'm just going to keep doing my thing. As a single man in my 30's I definitely feel the judgement that comes my way when people ask if I have a girl and kids. I'm slowly becoming better at not caring about that judgement. Things are just so unbelievably stacked against you as a man nowadays that a lot of guys are just opting out of situations where they have to jump through 1000 hoops just to still get fucked over.

My neighbors are in their 70's and they take care of eachother. The dude had knee surgery and his wife took care of him, then the wife had a bypass and he took care of her, and it goes back and forth. If they both had health problems at the same time then im sure one of their children would come help them. This generation is screwed the second our health goes down the drain, our homes and assets will be sold to pay for our care (we didnt have any kids to inherit the money anyway) and there literally wont be enough nursing homes and caregivers in the world to handle an entire generation of single people. Now im not saying to lower your standards and be with toxic ugly people that steal your peace, but this is just something to think about. If my neighbor guy had nitpicked his wife he would have been alone with knees that dont work in his 70's. Remember none of us are gonna be young and hot forever. Imagine you start balding and a woman rejects you because she isnt attracted to bald men and she misses out on a true chosen one. Are you going to get hair transplants so you can remain 'high value?' Have standards but dont nitpick people.

As for old age, I saw people taking care of themselves and playing baseball into their 80s, it depends on how good you eat and take care of yourself. My great-grandpa was mostly independent until he died at like 90. I want to be like him.

I knew a guy who kept bringing up how great it was to not have a wife and kids but you don't bring up something that much unless it's heavy on your mind. plus he would rant about how girls choose guys who don't have much to offer and brag about his house and income, you could tell he was mad because he thought money was supposed to get him a girl, so now girls are dumb for not choosing him and he doesn't want them anyway.. and his anger just builds and builds.. I cut ties with him as a friend because he was just too salty all the time and I think he expected to be chased by a girl... so now a girl has to be mentally perfect, physically hot, AND do all the chasing? Pick 3 numbers and roll 3 dice and see if your numbers come up, and that's what your chances are of finding that, so don't get mad if your own delusional thinking is what made you single bro, lol

Plus the second the woman behaves some way other than his idea of perfect, this type of guy is quick to say it's over because I was better off single anyway, so any relationship that begins is usually short lived since it's easy to throw away what you didn't really want that much to begin with.
