King David in the midst of his suffering and troubles cries out: Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away, and be at rest. (Psalm 55:6) . Few symbols across many faiths are as enduring as the dove. Mendelssohn adapted this particular psalm in his famous composition ‘Hear My Prayer: O for the Wings of a Dove’ which has been popular even since.
