Why do these guys get all the coverage when there's literally people sitting in prison who grew up in tougher circumstances who are model prisoners as well???? Why do you care about these spoiled privileged brats? They could've moved out and had nothing to do with their parents.

Not only that, he simultaneously allowed the prosecutors to argue, in open court, that men couldn't physically be raped/molested, due to their "lack of equipment." It's absurd. Same when I was 13 and heard about them and lived a few miles from their home. I was shocked my mom made jokes saying we were going to unalive her for my parents wealth. I too had issues with my parents and felt stuck. So when I heard of the abuse these men went through I had enough empathy to know they really did feel like they didn't have an option and I do agree they should be held accountable but having them be in prison this long especially when Erik had been a model inmate and knowing some of the demons he has for everything that has happened to him without given any hope...to me he's paid his dues he's absolutely reformed. Back in the 2000s I felt that he truly was remorseful and if he could be given back that thought of unaliving them, I think he wished he would have done it right. Either exit out of that family and/or finally talk about the abuse to law enforcement and get some help.

For the rude biased individuals that still think they should stay in prison for life, if even the families want these brothers back home I say let them out. Most killers' family members dont forgive them. Lyle and Erik dont have sociopathic tendencies. Sociopaths/psychopaths dont confess to their therapists that they killed someone. These brothers couldnt live with themselves. They showed empathy and to this day what theyve done with their time in prison is graduate with a degree, help others heal and create programs and social health groups. These brothers were terrorized and bullied in court back then. Weren't given a fair 2nd trial. There is new found evidence that proves their molestation as children. (Mind you, they only did life because the male jurors thought they lied about their rape. Not because they killed their parents but because they think they pushed out fake tears in court) Please right this wrong and give them grace. Its not like jobs are gonna want them when they get out. Stop acting like they're going to kill again if they get out. They have proven that theyre not a threat to society and they have paid their debt.

This judge and the DA at the time of their trial did not handle this right. When you take a child and start sexually abusing them at 6, they never knew a normal existence. They couldn’t escape from 6 to 18. What outcome can anyone expect when someone is abused that long as a child? None of that was taken into consideration. They just wanted to get them prosecuted with no real thought as to why this transpired the way it did. They couldn’t take it anymore and were not thinking clearly when they committed the murders. They just wanted it to stop.
@S.Blonde
@S.Blonde 24 күн бұрын
They can only go by what the brothers actually testified to. Erik said his mother never abused him yet he killed her. Lyle said his abuse stopped at 11 yet he killed them. Do you really think a judge and prosecutors are going to be as overly emotional as you and make believe the brothers testified to nonsense they never testified to? "Couldn't Escape"? is nonsensical when BOTH brothers testified to the numerous international and domestic trips they went on WITHOUT their parents that the parents paid for. You make believed they couldn't escape. They did not testify to that nor did they accuse their parents of chaining them up. It was the other way around. The parents wanted them GONE out of that house, changed the house locks and refused to give them keys yet Erik testified that he "started finding new ways to break into the house" instead of simply being gone to college. August 20th and both adult brothers are still there at the house refusing to leave says EVERYTHING because we all know when fall semester starts and that most college students were already at school getting ready for classes to start. These brothers never even turned in course enrollment forms for fall semester which is very telling of their true intentions.

I’m going to agree and disagree. They already had a ton of support before the series. New evidence were presented and being reviewed since last year. Yes the series got more eyes on the case but it also harmed the case as people are believing the series to be factual and not something made for TV. So more people are against their release and or spreading false information about the case and aren’t doing the research.

I don't this Ryan Murphy and Monsters portrayed them as villians. It showed what the general concensus was at the time. The scene with the brothers in the shower...THAT WAS A FIGMENT OF DOMINICK DUNN'S IMAGINATION! All the scenes with them looking like spoiled brats were someone's opinion! I think when they really watch it, they''ll see that. There is no way millions of people watched that and thought they were villians...especially considering all the press since and this move by the DA.

The judge in the 2nd trial needs to be held accountable. He disallowed testimony. That's criminal. What's wrong with defense attorneys? I would have said "Fine, don't allow me to present a case then we will not present any. Then ask for a mistrial and his removal as a Judge". That's like with the Wesely Snipes case. The judge stated "Yes all current taxes are not legal. But when you first paid those taxes that entered you into a contract to do so and you just can't stop". At that point have the case thrown out for "fraud" since the IRS didn't notify you that the taxes do not have to be paid and since they didn't you either can't enter into a legal binding contract to do so or the IRS is guilty of defrauding him and every taxpayer alive. I have not paid taxes in over 30 years now. I notified them that I would no longer honor any contract known or unknown that required me to do so. The same with the DMV. The DMV is ONLY for State use and Business use. Not you. Same thing. You have to break any and all contracts known or unknown and then you are not bound anymore. Never let a cop call your car or truck a vehicle because it is not. That means it is for state or business use and not for transportation. They then can ticket you. The courts that hear traffic violations actually does not have the authority to hear the cases. Once again the Judge will rule that by you showing up you entered into a contract, of your own free will, to allow the case to be heard. The first times they tried to get me to show I had an attorney show up and have the case thrown out. My local cops know me and just ignore me now. I wish someone would start a class action lawsuit against the IRS and the DMV. I can't, the statute of limitations has expired since I have not paid a penny to either organization in over 30 years.

I was a child when they were on trial and sentenced, and was absolutely shocked when I watched the recent documentaries (not that lurid movie). I only knew them - vaguely - as the kids that murdered their parents. As an adult now, I am left angry, wondering why every adult that knew something weird was going on did not intervene at the time! I'm glad they're speaking out now, but they utterly failed those boys. It is heartbreaking to me that they were re-victimized by the justice system. Absolutely heartbreaking.

If they wanted to kill their parents for inheritance, they would have NOT fired shot guns repeatedly on a quiet afternoon in a quiet neighborhood, or pick up the bullet casings. Yes they went to the movies in order to plot out an alibi, most likely due to a sudden realization after the shock dissipated. What they would have done is orchestrate it in such a way there wouldn’t be any clues, they probably would have muffled the sounds of the shotguns, and the list goes on. Or they would have made their lives easier and poison their parents- which shows pre orchestration: this was not that because it was so haphazard. This was a crime of passion, their emotions were on an all time high. Jose was an abuser, so was the mom. She would repeatedly expose herself to her children and play it off as closeness. She was sick as her demented husband. Honestly growing up in all of that, it’s a miracle that they took so long to snap. Their lives were changing, lyle had plans of starting a family and erik wanted to go off to college. Jose didn’t want that, they realised that they were trapped and knowing the true monsters that their parents were, they took their threat seriously. I believe with all my heart that Jose’s threat to them advising them to not reveal everything to the media was a real one. If they had not done what they did, they would have just succumbed to suicide, or their parents were gonna drive them to their grave. People that say that the parents were never able to tell their side, I must ask what side? They would have just deflected and invalidate everything. That gentleman who came forward to say he was also abused, do you guys think that a man with such sick perversions would molest a stranger and not his two sons? Let’s not forget what their early medical records showed- sings of sexual abuse. Everything is pointing towards their favor now and I am glad. May they truly be free after all of this.

This was premeditated. They ran out of bullets and their mother was still alive, so they went back to the car to reload, went back in and shot her again until she was dead. A crime of passion is in the moment, not premeditated. You can use the argument that they served enough time, but not that it was a crime of passion. They murdered their parents in cold blood. I remember the trial. They are definitely culprits.
@makeeblah

@@132allie okay, so the intention of my comment wasn’t to paint them as anything but culprits. It was to argue why I thought they didn’t do it for the money.They were old enough to know what they were doing. I’m just saying that if they’d really sat and planned this out to the specific details of it all, they wouldn’t have been caught; or at least for a while. They were wealthy and literally could have paid someone to do the job. You can probably argue that they bought the guns days prior and that meant something... I think that the high adrenaline coursing through them with the situation, the father giving them an ultimatum, the trauma, abuse that spanned for years pushed them into a state of paranoia. I actually forgot that one of them finished the mother off, I don’t think that holds enough weight to class this as 100% premeditated. As grim as it sounds, you start something, you have to finish it. But I think given the literal hell these parents stirred up for them, it’s reasonable why they’d finish her off in a fit of rage/adrenaline. Were they 100% wrong for it? Yes.

Their parents gaslighted them. Erik started talking to relatives about the abuse and their dad gave a threat as to what happens to people who talk too much. Their relatives must know how evil Jose was and with his money and power could easily destroy them if they helped. Also, you need to understand, the abused child or children must be willing to come out about the abuse and more often than not, SA people would rather keep the abuse to themselves or with close relatives. Only SA people will understand what goes through the minds of the other SA abused.

Many years ago before Netflix I watched a kind of documentary on this case, and how it was presented really made the brothers look like monsters. I don't recall much details/evidence and testimonies being discussed about how the parents, especially the dad, abused and terrorized their sons. Yes, TERRORIZE, because that's what it was. I can't imagine myself or any of my brothers having to face and endure that. Funny how the powers that be and many high society people were willing to empathize with that father (that creep and monster) then and even now, even though they don't empathize with a certain P-D..., whose behaviour was equally disgusting and horrific. Jose Menendez was an evil scum and those boys were desperately trying to end the nightmare and trauma that he represented in their lives. He had already murdered his sons emotionally and mentally. He killed their souls, but thank God, their souls could be recovered and restored through the grace of God and the many counselors, friends, family and supporters who have rallied around them since the injustice meted out to them.

What I find interesting that the documentary didn’t really cover, is that shopping sprees are a known dopamine hit for people suffering from traumatic issues or diagnosed PTSD, which they most definitely would have had. It’s a form of escapism in situations like this, *not a celebration.* They weren’t celebrating their parents being unalived, they simply just now (post unaliving), had access to money to fuel that escapism. There is absolutely no way Lyle or Erik were lying on the stand about their abuse. Lyle especially should have won 10 Oscars if he did - you can’t fake something like that. Erik could barely even speak. I think Lyle had come to terms with living w his secrets, but he couldn’t watch his brother be willing to end his life for the fear he could no longer handle. I also wonder why the defence didn’t push (maybe they did but it wasn’t shown?) for colleagues or associates of Jose to come forward w anything that would support him having those same behaviours outside the home, in his powerful corporate position. These boys could have left the family home, but they still would have lived in fear their whole lives, knowing he could destroy whatever life they tried to make, at any moment. They were in a no win situation. *Their freakin PSYCHIATRIST was on Jose’s payroll.* It doesn’t justify what they did, but it does explain it, & 5-10 years at best (which they really had already served by the time of the trials), is what they should have received. I hope that DA in the second trial rots in hell for the only two options they gave the jury. *How is he not being held accountable for what is essentially professional misconduct at best, with two lives on the line.* Sickening.

I totally understand you have your opinion and I am also Christian but this is about the law, specifically in California where this took place. The law has very clear rules about defenses for murder. I am referring to perfect self-defense versus imperfect self-defense. If the abuse was true and the brothers honestly but unreasonable believed they were in imminent danger, meaning even if they weren’t in that moment, it would fall under imperfect self defense. This would be an argument for charges to be reduced to voluntary manslaughter versus murder and would result in a sentence of 3-11 years in state prison, up to a 10,000.00 fine, and other penalties. To be clear they were found guilty in the second trial in 1996 after evidence of the abuse was blocked by the judge. It’s 2024, even if they served the full 11 years they would be out by now. This is why they are recommending a re-sentencing. Lastly remember the Bible also says give to Caesar what is Caesar’s. We must respect the law and use it to fight for justice.
