Man this guy was special! It's still hard to believe he created so many amazing highlights in such a relatively short amount of time? I will always remember him and Earl Campbell as just larger then life athletes. I'm glad to hear that Marcus seems to have done well for himself and hopefully he is not suffering physically the way Earl has which is really sad. Thank you for compiling and posting this set of highlights, my nephews are playing rb now and big Sooner fans and love these clips! Thanks

The best RB I ever recall seeing out of college. I wish he went to the NFL first. I remember as a kid what a huge impression he made. He made Herschel Walker look slow and clumsy. I won't forget this guy. Thanks for posting.

LORD.......HE'S LIKE A FREIGHT TRAIN AT 200MPH. I grew up in Norman and was blessed to be able to see Marcus play at Owen Field many a Saturday afternoon.

the thing that struck me was Barry Switzer saying that out of ALL the athletes he's ever coached that Marcus was by far the most athletically gifted. "Bar none", to quote him. That's pretty damn amazing

I played with Marcus in the early 80's and we were good friends. He was that fast. I remember running sprints next to him in practice and he just glided, effortlessly. He was amazing. He did not waste his life or his football career. He signed a $6M contract with the USFL. I went out with him in Tampa when his New Orleans Breakers played Tampa Bandits. He then played for the Rams. Write me for a picture of it. He now has a successful business and a son who played college football.

My HS QB was Dupree's QB with Portland on the play he hurt his knee. Its a hard play to watch but seems more real because I know somebody right there. I see a lot of bad injuries on the sidelines. Bo Jackson too

DuPree played with the New Orleans Breakers of the USFL.....I enjoyed watching those games.....My team was the Arizona Wranglers. They sported copper pants & helmet and the logo was cool too. A branded W on fire on the helmet.

there is no way this guy should be considered a "loser". yes, he was blessed with a lot of talent, and never lived up to his billing due to this that & the other ...but the man tried, got up after being knocked, he made a comeback when no else believed in him. certainly a good dude, and it's a shame we all didn't get to see him fulfill his promise, but he is no shame. a true person of character.

You just don't understand how big and fast this man-child was during a game. In my book Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson and Marcus Dupree where all equal. As far as size & speed. SCARY!!!

Bo had 4.25-4.3 speed, he had a step or 2 on DuPree. In this footage, one guy says DuPree is 4.5, which is still insane at his size.

These highlights are TIGHT! I remember Marcus Dupree when he was doing his thing at OU. As a 12 year old living in Tulsa at the time, he was the closest thing to Superman I had ever seen. I remember playing neighboorhood football with our friends, and we would almost fight to see who would "be" Dupree in our games. The loser would be Stanley Wilson or Buster Rhymes. Those were the Days!! The only thing about this clip is that the music sucks!!!

@Sirscorps Dupree ran a 4.4 as a Freshman in High School. I'm pretty sure he was running low 4.3's as a Senior in HS. Bo Jackson was probably about the same speed as Dupree at their best. Field speed and 40 speed are what separates runners, though.

@mbshanks1 he quit not because of that he had a lot of corruption in his family and was being torn apart also he was home sick thats why he went back to mississppi to be closer to home and then he went to the USFL and played a few year then messed up his knee so his team cut him. he sat around for about 3 or 4 years then made the greatest comeback ever and played for the los angelos rams. still to this day he wishes he would have stayed with Oklahoma

Should of played at Texas like he originally agreed to, just like Adrian Peterson should have, as good as they were, they never won a heisman, or a national Championship. It does matter where you go. Both wanted to go to Texas first, but were decieved, and lied to and never became what they could have been in College.

i still say WTF... who cares how hard the coach is on you. he knew he was the best that ever was so why let a coach ruin ur 3 heismans and possible 2 or 3 national championships, 1st overall draft pick NFL records and super bowl wins then go to the hall of fame. but no since the coach was hard on him he ran and threw all that away. do u know how many people would kill to have half that talent he had. he is the best that never was but because of marcus not because of switzer
