Being a supporter of a rival NFC team, aren't I entitled to that? In relation to this video, Green, humble or not, ran on the lane line in several of these races. I first noticed it in a still photo in a Sports Illustrated about 36 years ago, and I can see him doing the same in this video. You posted a snarky comment and I called you on it. All those NFL's Fastest Man competitions that Darrell Green won were 60 yards long. The 100 yard dash isn't Darrell's best event. The opposite was always true for guys like Herschel Walker and Willie Gault; neither was very good in the 60 but excelled in the longer 100. Fun fact: in the very first NFL's Fastest Man Competition, Willie Gault knew he would struggle in a 60 yard dash so he lobbied to have the event extended to 100 yards but lost the appeal.

Actually really not the case since Darrell actually ran faster than Herschel in the 55, 60, 100 and 200 in his sprinting career BUT Herschel was in superior shape and this competition included about 12 different events so he held up better in one of the last events.

In an earlier response comment reply for this video [by kidmack3556] he noted the flailing arms of Green in the race which could have slowed down his running stride. I did a replay of the video at half-speed and noted that Walker's arm work, while running, was more in keeping with proper sprinting form, while Green did, indeed, flail his arms while running, which contributed to his slower running time.

Not for nothing, but no need to defend Green, we all know how fast he was. I think the point here is that Herschel won this race and Green even said he pulled up because he knew he lost. Also, watch the race closely, Walker lead from start to finish (40, 60, 100). On a separate note, Walker and Jackson both had unbelievable blistering speed. Bo's legend is bigger than life, but the truth is Walker was faster and the better more durable college player.

Big ups to Green being honest, and not making any excuses. Herschel Walker once said "Bo Jackson nor Deion Sanders could ever beat me in a foot race, so I don't know how they were ever able to run 4.1 40s when I, myself, could never run anything close to that." He was alluding to those 4.1 claims for guys like Deion, Bo, etc are actually bs.
@gmaxsfoodfitness3035
@gmaxsfoodfitness3035 6 ай бұрын
@@tramainesmith6067 There is a video with Deion in it which shows the actual written times for his 40 yard dash. Two time keepers clocked Deion at 4.27 secs and two others clocked him at 4.29 and 4.31. This was hand-timed so if you add the approximate 0.24 sec delay to get an estimated electronic time, that would be about 4.41 secs. That's fast but not top 10 these days. On an ESPN video which they uploaded to YT, Bo talked about his dash being right before track practice with an Olympian so he didn't want to do the dash at all and just entertained the people there with a not so serious 4.3 secs electronic time. He says his coach told him to stop playing with those people and get serious so Bo told someone to bring his bags outside because he was going to do his 40 and run out the door. There were people with stop watches and there was a proper electronic timing setup (most likely infrared beam like Brower speed gates). Bo went full speed through the next 40 and was out the door immediately before they could tell him a time. He said he found out after track practice what his times were. Supposedly some people who hand timed him had it as low as 3.9 secs or 4 flat but, according to what Bo was told, the electronic timing system clocked him at 4.09 secs. That's what he remembers he was told. I personally don't think he was as fast or faster than the current 60m world record holder and fastest recorded 40 yard dash record holder Christian Coleman who clocked 4.12 secs back in 2018, the same year he broke his own 60m record with a 6.34 secs time (Christian Coleman's 40 yard dash is on KZbin too if you haven't seen it). I do think Bo could've definitely clocked 4.3 or maybe 4.2 has his peak but we don't have any record of his times other than word of mouth. With Deion, the card with his recorded times is still available.

@@gmaxsfoodfitness3035 Yeah, I've seen those official times of Deion, and I've heard that bull crap that Bo Jackson said about his "track practice times." I don't believe Bo Jackson's story any more than I believe in a Santa. Guys like Bo and Deion are the reason why people don't understand just how fast a 4.3 to 4.6 is. They have people thinking that those times are, somewhat, slow. Even a 4.7 is pretty fast for the average human being.
