Klaus - I followed this video step by step to remove and install the hydraulic pump on W209 CLK500 in under 2 hours. Your videos are amazing. You guys did a great job on rebuilding the pump. I also used your company for rebuilding full set of cylinders on our R170 SLK couple of years ago. Top is still working excellently. Thank you very much for the help.

Thanks for the video it couldent be more understanding. Can you please explain how we fill the oil lines if the oil comes out?
@TopHydraulics4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. The system is self venting, in case you have had air in the hoses. That means the pump will fill the hydraulic lines and cylinders with fluid as long as there is enough fluid n the pump. If you have a leak somewhere, then the leak must be fixed, of course. Is your system low on fluid? Have you found the leak?
@savph4 жыл бұрын
@@TopHydraulics Thanks for the prompt answer. Yes the leak looks like it is coming from the pump. I will try trooblshooting the point of the leak, see if it is reparable and deside. Thanks again.

hello , it is certain that there is a leak in my w209 , I start the mechanism after filling the oil fully . but when I close the top, the oil stays at its normal level, when I open it, it decreases by a centimeter. Where should I look for the leak first? There is slight perspiration around the lock piston, but not as much as the amount of oil lost. Should I continue to add oil or should I look for a leak urgently. Piston rods are very clean. After an oil leak, is it enough to fill the reservoir once, or is it necessary to run it a few times to fill the entire system and then top up the oil? Is it possible that the system is making air? as if after adding oil the compressor started to run louder. thanks for your help

Thank you for the video. We filled our empty reservoir with new fluid. We started the car, we tried to operate the top. We could hear some activity, so we went back in the truck and checked the reservoir because the top would not operate. The reservoir was empty. Is that typical, and should we try filling it up again and try operating the top again? Or, should we have seen the reservoir partially filled?
@TopHydraulics4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. Those are the signs of a serious leak somewhere. Obviously, all this fluid has to go somewhere. If you had a bad hose, then it would have sprayed all over the place. A leak at the pump would have sprayed, as well. Most likely, you have one or both main lift cylinders leaking if the fluid goes away this quickly without any obvious drips or sprays.

I AGREE WITH MBOSS YOUR VIDEOS ARE AMAZING, by that mention I was able to successfully able to remove and have my PUMP to check for leaks and it was coming from another place. Unfortunately I did it last summer and went through a professional loss of one of my partners and we closed that location as well . To keep the bus. afloat I didn't bother with the reinstall for almost 9 month's and now I remember I was able to remove 2 of the hoses with out the plate and reinstalled the whole thing recently but now the hum from the pump is working but the trunk flap trunk window doesn't operate for the rest of the top to start but I hear struggling . I might have put the wrong 2 lines in . And now I forgot it's been 9 months . Is there a numbered diagram with those lines like the trunk option one like you have there is what my option is well. Heeeelppp 🤦♂️

I want to ask if the fluid in the hydraulic reservoir must be replaced after a while or it’s for life.

Good question. Mercedes claims the fluid is for life, but that is not true unless you life in a cool climate and you rarely use the top.

Hi there, I have an issue with my roof not closing back up. It opened up perfectly. Went to close it, nothing except a msg on my Speedo saying Visit workshop. What could this be? Pump full of fluid.

I'm interested in going through you guys to replace a part on my 2005 CLK 320 cabriolet for the convertible top. The top goes down just fine, however when it comes up, everything is fine until the last part, where top lid clicks into place in the back if that makes sense. It has to be manually pushed down in order for the top to be completely back up. Is this a sign of a hydraulic pump or a cylinder? I called back in September and the representative told me it is most likely the hydraulic pump, however I am ready to buy now in order to have the top working for warmer weather in a few months and I want to make sure I purchase the right part.
@TopHydraulics3 жыл бұрын
Hello Kyle, Thanks for asking. If I understand the description correctly, then the top goes through the opening cycle perfectly, including the tonneau cover (lid) closing when the top is down all the way. Correct? During the top closing cycle, exactly how far does the tonneau cover move?
@kylerowins16413 жыл бұрын
@@TopHydraulics Thanks for the quick reply! So, yes the opening cycle is perfect. It's when the top comes back up that the tonneau cover does not click back in place. The tonneau cover must be pushed down manually. No leaks or abnormal noises coming from hydraulic pump, however.

are leaks common in this system? My top still works but is making a lot of noise. I think it may be low on fluid.
@TopHydraulics4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking. Leaks are very common in CLK top systems, same as any other late model convertible with a hydraulic top. You may want to watch the introduction video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hWWtknxpgLN7g5o If your pump is noisier than normal, then it is likely low on fluid. The fluid does not evaporate, so must have a leak if the fluid level is below minimum on the pump's reservoir. If you cannot find the leak easily, then it is probably from one of the two main lift cylinders.
