F1 only races at FIA Grade 1 tracks. The only one in the USA is COTA. I have stirred up shit on F1 forums by saying F1 drivers are pussies who are afraid to drive at tracks like Sears Point, Laguna Seca, Road America, etc. The F1 prima donna bois foam out of their panties with rage. Some others actually agree with me.

@@bb8228 also this is the 2016 car I think... and on the orange (hardest) compound!! 2019 cars have wider tires and larger wings and are a hell of a lot faster, plus Gutierrez was one of the worst/slowest drivers in F1. The likes of Hamilton and Leclerc on 2019 Merc/Ferrari on softest tires would probably do 4 or 5 seconds faster than this, probably even more

@@nixxxon18 No doubt that a current spec Mercedes or Ferrari with a top driver will go at least 2 or 3 seconds faster. But more prep time will be required to get the car set up for this track since it's not on the regular F1 calendar. I'd rather see them at say Watkins Glen, a track with F1 history.

@@ArthurZakaryan23 a lot more than 2-3 seconds on qualification tires and boost. I'm looking at this lap and the 2019 Mercedes would be flat in a lot of these corners that Esteban is part throttle in. Corner exit acceleration he's waiting all the time

Completely different layout than what Indycar uses. This could be compared to the Full Layout, where the lap record is 1:20.683 by an Audi R8 in 2000.

Not an FIA level 1 track. Sonoma is one of the least forgiving tracks in US and would need some major changes to be made.

only cars older than 2-3 years can be run outside of FIA officialy sanctioned sessions. It's to stop F1 teams gaining unfair unfair advantage by using relatively new cars for testing purposes.
