First off, love the channel, and your easy to understand repairs and methods. THANK YOU AND KEEP THEM COMING. My 2002 Merc Benz S430 (W220) A/C stopped working after I replaced the windshield wiper hose (with the heater wire/ cable inside). The unit small red light is on indicating the system works, but will not blow cold air. The clutch does engage, on then off, constantly. The typical reset feature/ trick doesn't work for whatever this error is currently. I checked the relays/ switched and replaced them as well. Assuming the system may have been low on refrigerant, I filled it with what it took in, which appeared to be almost two full "tall" cans of AC Pro. Reset the system and the air came on "absolutely freezing cold" for about two minutes then shut off again. After resetting and attempting to make it stay on, it wouldn't reset anymore after four attempts. I noticed a clear liquid had leaked from the bottom center of the car down the driveway to the rear of the car, no smell or color, but thicker than water. The next day, with the engine running and the air refilled and reset once more, I heard a loud hissing and bursting flow of air or spray from under the hood, front drivers side for about 40 seconds then stopped. I believe it was a pressure relief vale of some sort !!! Scared the &%$#@^& %$#%^&%#@ out of me to be exact. The clutch still engages, on then off, constantly. Whats wrong with the cars AC ????? What would you recommend I check or replace???? No AC for the past four months now...

Thanks for the info - great over view summary! Just had to have mine gone over-18 years old so expected..... Bit of a nitemare as we found more than reckoned; wiring harness and motors. But my local private Mercedes mechanic did a bang up job for me while I was out of town and has me a cool as ever 😎 and thanks to your videos I had a knowledge base to discuss my issues so we could make good decisions.

Your channel is what keeps my W201 going .I love this car. I have done many DIY repairs on my W201. Some of them fairly in depth (starter, blower motor, wiper motor, a helicoid repair for the belt tensioner and even some machining. I can deal with this as long as I have some hard copy information from a manual or online and I really have no qualms in attacking the AC . Since the auxiliary electric fan and the magnetic driven water pump fan all are part of this, can you suggest the best repair information on this? The compressor does need to be converted to California "gas" I simply do not know all of the components that are involved in the operation of all fans, driers, and gas compression to cool. The best information can come from...Haynes,. On Line? Chilton? Thank you Tim

Thanks for the video above and I agree that most AC shops are rips. My 2015 Sprinter 3500 has 50,000 miles and the AC is not cooling the cab as I stated below. Any suggestions that I can perform to improve my AC efficiency would be appreciated. Thank you in advance for any advice.

Hey Pierre, I have a w116 300sd. Just installed a new compressor along with dryer and expansion valve. Charged with freon, but compressor doesn't kick on, what am I missing? Replaced pressure switches as well to no avail.

Good video. I have a 1998 ML320. When I turn on the ac, there is a whirring noise or low hum, more prevalent at a stop. Ac blows cold. Any ideas?? I'd really like to see a video on the early ML320. The swaybar "linkages" seem bazaar to me. Incidentally, with the car on level ground and the wheels straight, should the amount of "excess" swaybar, meaning the protruding part toward the wheel, be equal on both sides? The sway bar end on the driver's side is barely half way through the bushing. TKS!!

I have a 2000 Mercedes E430 4matic. I just got an AC Compressor and had it installed, freon, oil, and leak was put in. Why is it now blowing cold?

I just contacted my local dealer in Pittsburgh, PA for some AC parts. Both compressor and condenser are no longer available. They said they couldn't even get the parts from Germany. Last known part was a $500 reman compressor, and a $650 condenser. Neither currently available.

I have a 2015 MBZ Sprinter 3500 and the AC does not cool like it used to....The fan blows and you can feel the air is sliightly cooler right at the vents but the AC system will not cool the cab down like it did a few years ago. The compressor clutch is engaging.

Hello Pierre, I have a 2000 AMG E55 Mercedes. I have had the compressor, and coolant leak fixed on it. The air conditioner doesn't cool unless I am driving. Sometimes when I hit a bump it blows warm air. Sometimes after I cut the air off because it is blowing warm air it has this whistling air noise coming out of the vents. Please help

Hey Pierre, i have a w201 190E 2.0 A/T with M102 engine. I have problem with the RPM going down and shaking when i turn on the AC. After that the RPM is going back to normal. And also when turn the steering wheel fully to left or right, the engine is shaking. Is it a bad AC kompressor that makes bad engine load ? Thank you.

I have a 1982 240D, i have a problem, AC is always on, compressor clutch always engaged when i start the car. I disengage the clutch by removing one of the wires connected to the pressure sensor on the dryer. Can you help with some advise please.

The AC on my 1994 E320 cuts out if the ambient temperature is over 83 F. Under 83 degrees, it blows cold enough to freeze hell over, so I'm pretty sure there's plenty of refrigerant (also testing it show there's plenty, too). However one of the auxiliary electric fans is not running for some reason. Any ideas how to fix that?

here's my theory. I think that over 83 degrees the ac pressures are getting too high, and the ac pressure switch is cutting out the compressor. this is my best guess.

I have a Mercedes 1990 560 SEL and put in a brand new AC compressor and parts, i put the PG oil in and freon and there is a leak coming in above my foot from the gas peddle, where is the leak coming from????? i need help

As far A/C shops being scams, some of them are without doubt. I have had A/C problems in my Mercedes right from the beginning, so I have visited a few shops over the last 5 years. One of them was extremely reputable, so I took my car there to have it inspected and what disappointment. First the technician vented the remaining R134 after he just assumed the last shop used something like cooking gas, which was not true. Second the used soapy water in a hot engine compartment, all of which dried up before he could see any leaks and third, he just assume that because he couldn’t find the leak, it was the evaporator that was leaking, when in reality was the compressor that was leaking. This shop by the way, apparently is specialized in replacing evaporators because that’s all they post in their facebook page.

sorry for the late response. I think that the best way to handle this would be to go on eBay and purchase a compressor gasket set and a new front seal, if you have a York compressor.if you can get wax free mineral oil, this would be ideal as well. You can use any of the drop in r12 replacements in the market. It just make sure that your pressures aren't running over 225. Make sure your auxiliary fan works as well. The original your compressor that they used in these cars might be big and heavy but it makes very cold air conditioning

@@thisisnightshop2037 Thanks for your reply but what I should've meant in my question is that the car never had optional a/c to begin with, so what I actually meant by starting from scratch Is that I'm going to buy the entire a/c system and install it in the car from the compressor to the evaporator and everything in between and that since the car never had ac I wanted to know the best compressor to buy regardless of cost unless the m115 engine can only mount a york compressor. Also I'm from Egypt so charging with r12 is basically nonexistent.

i would try to get a factory bracket but use a nippon denso compressor from an m117 engine, like the one used on the 560sl. this is a light weight, efficient compressor that is easy to adapt. Study the hose set up an a 300e.

@@thisisnightshop2037 Why the 225psi limit? Or are you saying the system isn't working properly if discharge pressure is over 225? Or are you implying that the York won't handle pressures above 225psi?

I was told that when you make new AC lines for W123, you cannot reuse the end connections as they are permanently crimped ? I was quoted $300 for new lines, without labour costs.

qwertyui90qwertyui90 I took my hoses to my local hydraulics shop and they cut the crimped fittings off and brazed new ones on that thread in. They made it in a common and easy to find thread for the future, I just forget what it is now. Anyways, they only charged me $120 for the suction and discharge lines.

I think the most important thing when fixing an A/C in an older vehicle (especially when the system leaks a lot), is to replace ALL the o-rings, keeping in mind the type of refrigerant that is going to be used. In my car, the A/C technician that fixed the system the last time found that previous shop that “fixed it”, put new o-rings on top of the old ones. Also, as far as I know the old o-rings used in R12 systems leak because they are not compatible with R134. That’s another reason to replace them.

Yes, obviously a thirty-year-old o-ring is not going to do very well. Especially at 250 psi. This is good advice!
