I did this procedure this morning and it actually worked. I did it twice 1st time without the key inserted nothing happened. Second time with key set to the number 2 position it worked perfectly. I recommend this. You saved me a ton from the dealership.

This tip also worked on my 2003 C180 Kompressor. My sunroof was only moving about 3 centimeters at a time. Was very frustrating. Had key set to Ignition but kept the engine off. I followed the same order as your advice, Tilt for 5 seconds, Rear for 5 seconds, Forward for 5 seconds and then down for 5 seconds. Thank you so much for publishing this tip!

Worked for me!!!!👏🏻🙌🏻 I have a 2003 w211 with a pan roof that I bought specifically FOR the pan roof after I owned a solid roof 2002 model for 6 years and it was the most fun drive I’d had in my life but lacked the roof. I had work done on it yesterday and the roof didn’t work in the glorious sunshine this morning- typical 🤬🤬🤬 But this procedure has fixed it- I think I’ll lube the channels now to make sure all is well. Thanks again 🤜🏻

Hi there, this also works with C series Mercedes. I'd just spent over $1,300 on a new alternator, only to find that the sunroof wouldn't close. My 2005 E55 pano sunroof shades/curtains stuck open and would not close even though the pano roof would open and close just fine. The button just made a clicking sound. I followed your steps and it immediately solved the issue. No pulling fuses or removing headliner required. Thank you!!!

For the 2010 or newer model you have to remove the mesh section in the middle (where the mic is). Then you will see a slim black trim. Push the black trim towards the glass. The whole light piece will come down. Look at the right motor and you will see a hex key. Insert an allen key and turn it a few times. Then try using the switch to completely open the glass or screen. Hold the switch for 5 secs. This will reset everything.

Mine won't reset for some reason, roof wouldn't open at all so I manually opened it and now it works but stops every 5 seconds
