Mercedes E350 (W211) Spark Plug Replacement
This video shows how to replace the spark plugs on an E350 Mercedes (model year 2008).
Please check your owners manual for the correct spark plug replacement part number and torque specifications.
Tools needed:
3/8-Inch drive ratchet
Extension bars
Torque wrench
T30 Torx socket
5/8-Inch spark plug socket

Damn good video, straight forward and to point... after seeing this all I'm thinking is how much cash I'll save doing it myself. My mechanic can have it done in about 30 min or less and probably charge me about 200-300 hundred I'm sure. I was afraid to work on my '07 E350 only because it's a Benz, thinking it could only be worked on by a professional mechanic, BULL CRAP !!!! PS: I'm also going change my O2 censors,Oh Yeah... For motor oil, I use Mobil 1 0W-40 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor (European Formula). Your booklet should tell you which Mercedes specification your oil must meet. For example, for specification 229.51 (and other specifications), you could then lookup the approved MB engine oils here: bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/229.51_en.html If you don't have that info, I would recommend calling a Mercedes dealer and their parts department will tell you what the required oil is for your vehicle. Their service department will tell you the torque specs for the spark plugs. Make sure you have an accurate torque wrench and that you do not over tighten the spark plugs. I use a simple 3/8 inch drive beam style torque wrench for the lower torque settings.

Did you check to make sure all plugs and coil packs were re installed and electrical connections were correct? Not judging but trust me it probably happens more than you think.

Have you tried changing the transmission fluid on this car? I got the same model but I can’t seem to find the fill plug or the stick for it. I know where the drain plug . This must be the type where it is a sealed transmission and needed a special tool to do the job.

The Mercedes transmission for this model was originally delivered “sealed for life”. I think Mercedes originally thought that the transmission will not ever need to be serviced but later changed the maintenance to every 38K miles (at least on my car). In light of the sealed for life design it creates a challenge servicing the transmission since you cannot pour the transmission fluid from the top of the vehicle. You must use the drain plug below the transmission to get the fluid into the vehicle. This requires the right tools and a pump for the transmission. You will not want to start that job without those tools. There are posts on the internet covering this. I have personally not done the job, but was “tempted” to do it in the past. Let us know if you decide to do the job and share your recommendation.

there is no dipstick for trans or engine. this is a separate part you buy and the check tube is under the engine cover. You should look up these details on a reference manual or website. No the trans is not 'sealed'

Eric The E350 model year 2008 (W211) has an M272 engine in it. It is a V6 engine. Search the internet for the cylinder firing sequence. I believe the cylinder numbers are as follows but please verify from authoritative sources: .................Back of the car...................... I would recommend you use a good torque wrench. It can get costly if you damage the threads because you over tightened the spark plugs.

I do not know how much the engine changed in your model. However, the basic steps of replacing the spark plugs are the same. Check in the technical section of your user guide which spark plugs you should use and the recommended torque.

My car was on E, it began to misfire. I filled up tank, it was fine after (I know, but I was in between paydays so I did not have gas) Next day even with full tank my car is misfireing again. Could it be a feul line issue or could it be plugs? Any ideas?

@@Z3UZ4793 yep, I changed out a coil pack days ago it was throwing a code for and its ok now. Theres also a sensor behind the gas pedal. If it gets wet then no bueno

I have used it on my prior MB vehicles, but have stopped using it on my newer vehicles. I have seen different opinions on the Internet about it. I would think you'd have to apply a slightly lower torque if anti-seize is used. I'd be interested in hearing opinions from others about this question.

I have used dielectric grease and have heard it helps but anti seize on a spark plug was a first one.

dielectric grease is for the rubber boot to keep it from sticking to the porcelain part of the spark plug, it has nothing to do with the metal treads.

for some reason i saw posts on MB forums that for each cylinder its two spark plugs on MB, so a V6 supposedly has to have 12. can anyone comment why? clearly in the video it had just 6, like it should.

The C300 (model year 2008, engine M272) has 6 spark plugs. The M112 and M113 Mercedes engines have two spark plugs per cylinder (and potentially other MB engines). If you are unsure about your engine, call the dealer parts department, provide them you VIN and they will tell you the exact part number and quantity that you need.

Yes, cross threading just means that the threads are not aligned between both sides (in this case, between the spark plug and the engine). If you start tightening the spark plug by hand, you would feel the extra resistance if you were cross threading which would help you prevent causing damage to the threads.

I definitely know the E500 has 16 spark plugs, 2 per cylinder. My E550 engine was redesigned that is only has 8 plugs, 1 per cylinder
