When I worked at a Ford dealership, I had a Nissan Rogue that had a run flat tire with a nail. It was the same kind of situation as yours. The dealership wouldn't patch the tire for insurance reasons, but we sent them to the local tire shop that would repair it. I'm not saying what Mercedes-Benz did was right as they could've given options, but they read the situation and smelled money.

I'm on my 3rd Mercedes in a row. They all had sport suspension. They all have negative camber coming out of the factory. All 3 cars ate tires between 5-10k miles. My current car, 2007 E350 4matic Sport Avant-garde. Had four new Continental extreme contact DWS 06 tires put on when I first bought the car almost 3 years ago in March. I rarely drive the car. I've also put a lot of money into the car and bought a lot of tools when I first bought the car, some of it was preventative maintenance some of it was stuff that needed to be done. I have about 7K invested into the car. Okay so the back tires went out even though I got an alignment done every 6 to 8 months they would not warranty the tires. For the first time in my life I had a brake line blowout in the rear on it because I stopped taking it to the car wash every week or a few times a week about a year ago. Couldn't afford it. The shop that fixed the brake lines didn't rip me off but told me that my inner front tires were so bad that if I went down the street they would probably explode and that's exactly what happened. The rear tires didn't have 5,000 mi on them and the inners went to where I spun out on the highway in the winter and almost got hit by a plow. Replace the rears now I just got done replacing the fronts which had about 8,000 mi on them and the belts were showing. I had just got the car aligned after putting the front set on at the dealer. I had it checked again about seven or eight months later. I'm sorry I went through a tires on this car already not six. So this is the third time I've had to replace the front tires. The rear's only had a few hundred miles on them still because I barely drive my car. It's usually to the store once or twice a week which is right up the street or to my family's which is a black or two away. I was going to have the camber kits installed but everywhere wanted to charge me $500 or up when I can definitely do this myself and probably less than 30 minutes after I get the car off the ground and the suspension set.

Hi bigtimeny315, Thank you for sharing your experience with your Mercedes E350 4matic Sport Avant-garde. It's unfortunate to hear about the tire and suspension issues you've encountered. Owning a car, especially a luxury one, can sometimes come with unexpected challenges. It seems like you've invested a significant amount of time and money into maintaining your vehicle, and I appreciate your dedication to addressing issues as they arise. It can be frustrating to deal with tire wear problems, especially when you've been diligent with alignments and maintenance. Regarding the negative camber coming from the factory, it's not uncommon for sport-oriented models to have more aggressive suspension setups. I understand your reluctance to spend $500 or more on camber kits when you believe you can do it yourself more cost-effectively. If you decide to proceed with the camber kits installation, I would recommend documenting the process and sharing it with the community. This could be valuable for other Mercedes owners facing similar challenges and looking for a DIY solution. As always, preventive maintenance and regular inspections can go a long way in avoiding unforeseen issues. I hope your future experiences with your E350 are more enjoyable, and if there's anything specific you'd like advice or input on, feel free to reach out. Safe travels, Keith

@@iRepairAutosIf I install the camber kit I will document and share it with the community. I'm also linked up with Mercedes and the w211 Facebook groups and some others there as well. I've actually seen a video in a shop where the cut out part of where the arm bolts into the body of the car giving the car about 2 extra inches of adjustment. Much better then the cam bolts for my car. Unlike the other models, the cam bolts is not adjustable. It only gives you just a little better positive camber.
@bigtimeny31511 ай бұрын
@@iRepairAutos The front camber kit bolt is not eccentric. With my specific car you only get 0.3° positive or negative and no in between so it's not even worth it to put it on really. Better off cutting the notch out of the frame as shown on one of the KZbin videos and that way you can slide The whole arm about 2 in extra.

My wife took her car to a local repair shop owned by a friend of mine. One of the workers told the boss that there was a piece of metal in the side of the tire. The boss told him go ahead and replace the tire on a e350 sport. Fortunately we had to wait for the tire untill the next day. When I got home and my wife told me she had paid for the tire already I went and checked the piece of metal in the tite and it was just a paper clip in the edge of the sidewall in the tread so I just pulled it out and it was only in 1/8th of an inch. I called my friend and told him what was happening. He apologized and refunded the charges. You really have to keep an eye on them. It's very easy to get overcharged. These are my friends but a bad call by the repair guy and the boss neglected to check it out. and I almost got charged alot.

90% of all dealerships profit are from the shop. On an undercover report NBC did a segment on the same issue of dealership charging for parts that don't need replacement. Needless to say they were changing thousands of dollars to a undercover woman for a part that was not even damaged on the A/C system. My Mercedes tires i buy from Walmart because Walmart is nationwide and I pay for the extra warranty. But I'm covered. Save my kneck on my way to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I got 2 tires replaced and just pay for the get rid of the tire fee 50.00 dollars for both. I was happy 😊 I used to buy import tires the expensive ones, but not anymore. I travel too much and I need on the spot assistance. Stay away from dealership!!!!!

It seems to me, based on what you stated, that you have a small claims case against MB for the price of the tire. MB was in error telling your wife it could not be repaired. I would write a letter to them stating your only option in recovering the tire fee is to take them to small claims court and see if they will reimburse you or not. If not, go for it if you have the time. I think you have a strong case. Evidence is key and if your tire friend will go with you as expert witness, even better...jc

The car repair industry, just like in construction, is still filled with men that see a woman, and take advantage to feel better for their own 'shortcomings'. Very few gentlemen that act honorably. Men, of course, also get the same treatment if they show a lack of mechanical knowledge.
