Hey nick Im having problems activating my greeting tone for profile activation , i turned on proactivity and greeting tone and it had only greeted me once , i have a 23 c43 any tips ?

I’ve noticed it only greets like once a day or maybe after a few hours or so Don’t know what the time difference is for it to do it again. If it’s not working have you spoken to Mercedes?

I have a 2022 GLC200. I love it but as a music producer I spend a huge amount of time listening to music in the car but the car's volume control is far too sensitive. Volume is too soft so I increase it one level and it is now too loud. There is no gradual way I can see to slightly increase volume. Any ideas?

@gemstudiosaustralia887 no sadly not, just tue volume on the car as far as I’ve seen. There’s certainly nothing on mine hidden away in settings. One thing you could check which might be impacting what you’re hearing, on radio or media, head to settings (usually bottom right) and check for Auto Volume Adjustment. Have a play around with that and see if that makes a difference 🤓

@@npoleary sorry forgot to add have tried the auto volume setting, made no difference. Volume control issue is same for radio and my phone (which I play my songs from). Surprising that such a great/expensive car has a really poor volume control. My prev car was a Mazda 6 and your could gradually increase the volume minimally up and down. Guess it is one thing I will have to live with ha ha ha. thanks for the response.

Yes, please do make a video about the entertainment package, especially in the S Class. It would also be great to see a video on all the features of the key fob, especially any hidden features, like how to turn off the continuous transmit mode, like the Toyota key fob has. Another video I'd really appreciate, is one about what data remains strictly with the car, and what data is sent to Mercedes and/or other entities outside the car, and how to minimize or even prevent data from leaving the car. Plus one handy thing is you can manually turn on / turn off any specific function you would / wouldn’t like on the app or the website 🤓

Great video! I'd like to share 2 tips which I don't think I've seen talked about before! 1. When adjusting the air flow system, and you get the icons for temp and which vents are active, you can tap/hold these and move them left or right to place them in a better position! I found my icons used to clash with Android Auto, but after adjusting it's much better! 2. When using the limiter or cruise control, the right hand side +/- buttons only go up in 5 increments, however if you slide your finger up or down, you can fine tune it in 1-step increment instead!

On the cruise control, try a gentler press up and down to shift by single increments. A hard up/down press shifts by 5 but a soft press will shift it by 1.

Thanks for sharing all your tips! I have watched these over & over in preparation for collection of my new A35 facelift Premium Plus. Picked it up yesterday, and glad to see tip No.2. In my opinion, even though there are ways around this it’s really annoying not having a skip track physical button! You have the wasted space now with no touchpad, so why didn’t they put it there next to the volume button - that would’ve made perfect sense 🤷‍♂️

Direct Commands: on my EQS (Sept 2022/NTG7) I activated the onboard dash-cam (at a cost of CHF300) and found a way around the cumbersome mode of operation by using the direct command "Dashcam starten" and "Dashcam beenden".

As usual great video. Having the same car as yourself I mentioned in your last upload I filled a C drive with my Top Gear videos and play them when parked up. Up until now I have been watching them and they are about 10cm x 10cm, but I accidentally came across a video settings with different outputs and one was 16:9 which I chose and my top gear is almost twice as long and large. It now fills the entire display. Keep it up Nick great work.

Thank you! Glad you enjoy them! No sadly it’s on one the latest generations of MBUX. MBUX NTG 7 or MBUX Gen 2. It’s part of their new profile thing in their multimedia systems. So for GLC’s it’s only the ones with the big vertical screen in the middle.

Great vid. The mobile data plans for the most part are not working in the US. It worked for a month with the streaming audio and what's the news function. But according to the wireless provider it is a known bug in the wireless modules on the cars

Hey Nick- great videos, which greatly helped me to better understand my new car while I was breaking it in my new AMG. Had a question on whether “since refuelling” stats that are available on MBUX (I have NTG 7); the display provides for stats “Since Start” and “Since Reset”; but I can’t locate any “Since Refuelling” stats. Are these available in MBUX? I migrated from a VW stable car, which has this information, therefore found it odd that I couldn’t locate it. Thank you in advance!

Ah that’s cool! I’ve covered VW’s before but not seen that stat. No that doesn’t exist on Mercedes. There’s From Start (start of your journey for the day with a 4-6 hour gap, then it resets) And From Reset, from when you last reset it.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! Sadly no MBUX NTG 6 only has one compatible USB-C port for CarPlay. I’m guessing that MBUX NTG 7 has slightly different configuration for its USB-C ports, it’s one of the things I accidentally found when I bought my car!

Hi Nick, there is another way to go to the next track with the new MBUX NTG7 and the new AMG steering wheel. When you select on the left screen the track (for UK, for EU the right screen), good to know that the tile is selected, then you can use the button on the steering wheel with the button (4 arrow and ok), swipe to the right of left for next or previous track.. so I noticed today 😊. I made a video fragment of it with mij phone.

Another great one Nick. My car MBUX version 3 I think. My car and App tell me of a big update 45mins to complete but when I say yes it says Cancelled battery in car too low. I checked it 12.65V so maybe it will do it on a long run….

Thank you! Ah yes don’t worry, updates in cars can take a while! They only update when the car’s on (and sufficient battery) so it can take days or weeks if you only use the car for short journeys (completely normal!)

New Mercedes user here. MBUX is a big mystery to me. Nice to subscribe to this channel and learn stuff. First thing I noticed was that the radio always seems to be on...really? You can only mute it? I called my wife when I picked up the car but couldn't hear her over the radio. Thought the radio would cut out when a call was in progress. But no. Hm.

Hey! Ah thank you! That sounds very strange, I've never seen the radio remain on during a call...or any form of media. It should turn off! I'd try a call again and if it persists chat with Mercedes at a dealer for them to check that out. Yes in answer to your question the multimedia system remains on, modern cars are all the same, so if you don't want Radio on, just select another music source like Media or USB or something. But all music should still stop when you take a call

Oh I’ve heard that recently when I was at the British Motor Show! I think it’s quite a new thing as when I reviewed the EQA and EQB sometime ago, that definitely wasn’t there. Hi Nick. Great videos! I've been watching them for 6 months in prep for getting my new GLC, which arrived this week. My first Merc, after 2 BMWs. Anyway, I can't work out how to get addresses, e.g. Home, Work, to come up in the Favourites menu. I mean the page opened with the star on the steering wheel, not the favourite destinations on the navigation screen. I can add radio stations, but I can't add satnav favourites. I think I've tried everything. Would be really grateful for any help! Thanks, and keep up the good work.

Great thank you! Glad you’ve been enjoying them! Usually when you navigate to a place, you can save the destination as Home Work Favourite (this is the one to use as you can rename these) But you have to navigate to a place first or visit the previous destinations bit and save it in there 🤓

I'm in a GLC, so it's the big portrait style MBUX. I can't find any way to put satnav destinations on there. (I also can't work out how to rename any destinations apart from Home or Work.) So when you press “Where to?” On the sat nav, type in where you want to go. And right before you press “Let’s go” have a look on the page or scroll up/down and find a star or favourites. In here is how you save it. You don’t save Sat nav favourites from the star on the steering wheel. Hope that make sense!

It only saves them as favourites in the satnav, it doesn't put them on the "overall" favourites page along with radio stations and various other stuff. THAT's what I want to do, but I'm drawing a blank. Also, it only seems to allow Home or Work as names, but if I want to rename an address as Dad or somebody else's name etc, it doesn't seem to let me do that either. BMW 1 Mercedes 0 at the moment! 😁

Hi Nick. Another great tuturial as always. One thing I can't seem to do is when streaming my Apple Music from the system not my phone, it works, but I can't get it to display "Apple Music" in the source box as you show in the video @ 14:02. I have set up the cars data scheme, the Apple account is linked so not sure what I haven't done 🤷‍♀. Hoping you can point me in the right direction

Hi Nick, thanks for the many clear videos. Have you fully studied the new Mercedes E-class yet ? Because I am wondering how to delete and/or add apps in MBUX. It is incomprehensible to me that Mercedes installs junk like TikTok, Angrybirds etc. in a bussiness-class car. I also wonder about privacy when you pair a smartphone with an MBUX system that also has TikTok on it ? In such car, one would be much better served by e.g. Microsoft Teams, Deepl translation software, etc.

Great content Nick. Ive just bought an EQE SUV with standard Centre screen. One thing that bugs me is the audio volume on start up. It always starts loud and I have to turn down the volume each time I hop in. How can I set the volume to just come on at the same volume it was when I shut the car down. (The car doesnt seem as nice as my 3 1/2 year old EQC which was a nightmare in other respects but Im not going down that road! (Loads of problems) Cheers Graham (New Zealand)

I have a few questions, do you take them somewhere or do you have a link to another tutorial that I can see please. eg where is the temperate gauge? every time I pass by parked cars, the 360 system makes very distracting warning signs. Well I try and answer everyone’s questions where I can on here or if people email me 🤓 Plus I’m on other social networks too 👍🏼 So it should be the same as mine, if you press Home on the steering wheel swipe across until you see the Service Menu where you’ll find coolant if you need to see it. I’ve not heard of that happening before, it certainly didn’t happen when I reviewed one so might be worth chatting with a dealership or something so they can check it out 🤓

Hey Nick, thanks for these helpful tips. 1 question: what happened to park assist on the 2021 GLC 300e. There's a Park assist button and the display changes but Park assist does not work. It doesn't even look for a space let alone find one. The Garage says it wasn't installed ! ( WTF!! - So why's the button there???) Its a Premium Plus model...

Would it be possible to make a video showing how to include speed cameras for NTG 7 used in A class. I have seen your previous movies where you show it for your A class using NTG 6 and for a C class (I think) using NTG 7. But I don’ find the menues in my A class with NTG 7.

@@npoleary I have TomTom Amigo running in the background on Apple CarPlay whilst using the in built Navigation. It gives verbal warnings on speed cameras and what the speed limit is. Works really well.

As always great and useful video Nick! Since the last MBUX update I have an issue with the FM/DAB radio. It is reloading stations all the time and it will play a song for a couple of seconds and then it will reload again either to the same station or another. Have you come across this before?

Thank you. Oh really? I’ve not experienced that in mine, could you try resetting the multimedia system? That does force a re-scan of the dab radio stations so that could fix it? If not I’d advise chatting to Mercedes and they could take a look 🤓 A reset (depending on the car) is usually HOME SETTINGS SYSTEM RESET Just bear in mind all Sat nav favourites, settings, phone’s paired will need to be set up again (it doesn’t affect your Mercedes me)

Hi Nick, Try to open a window half and long press the recirculation button from the airco. this will close the cars windows. but not only that, If you long press it again after it has shut the windows down, it will open them again on the same stand they where on. Im not sure if all NTG7 have this, but my C-Class does, even the roof! i use it all the time to drive trough tunnels. Hope someone it something with this information 😀

Ah yes this has been around for a long time This was the first tip and trick I ever made on my channel back in 2020. Still really useful even to this day! I always forget to use it though when I’m behind a car white a smokey exhaust! 😅

Hey, thanks for the video. Just picked up a new facelift A35, enjoying it so far but some minor annoyances maybe you can help with. Is it possible to 100% disable the audible speed warning? Changing it in the settings resets every time you turn the car off. You can long press the mute btton on the wheel which will do it, which is useful and saves having to go to the menu, but still annoying. And secondly, is there a way to fully turn off cruise control? When i first got the car, the cruise control icon was not on the dash, the first time i pressed it the cruise button shows up in grey, and goes green when in use. But is it possible to turn it off? Pressing or long pressing the cruise button does nothing. Having the icon there when not using it is annoying!

No worries! Glad you enjoyed it! Don’t want this to sound silly but 2020 is right on the date where Mercedes did a facelift of E-Class’s. They changed it on the facelift from using the wheel etc to include use of a touchscreen too. So are you 100% sure it is a touchscreen? Touchscreens in Mercedes have the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant. The multimedia system is known as MBUX.

Hey Nick another very authoritative explanation of the NTG7 system tips & tricks! Just a question on the Mercedes login. You showed how to disable it but if it’s active via manual PIN, Fingerprint or Face Recognition does it prevent the car from being started or driven? No sadly not in Mercedes the keys are used to start the car There are several ways to gain access to these new multimedia systems like MBUX NTG 7 & MBUX NTG 8 but it depends on the model and what equipment it has. For example fingerprinting recognition and face recognition are only a couple of models from what I’ve seen. PIN (default one) Voice Fingerprint (selected models) Face (selected models) No security They’re just to access the multimedia system

Maybe you can help me with a question: Is it oil temperature in the automatic that you can see in the engine information screen on MBUX on the left side (GLC 400e). Same data also appear on the enginedata screen in the offroad screen. I guess it is so. The sign with the little cog wheel indicate it.🤔

Well in that scenario it’s best to choose one or the other Yes than can co-exist but for example if someone texts you while you’re doing something on the Mercedes system, it’ll steal the focus away from what you’re doing. But on most modern Mercedes top left or top right, the home button is for MBUX, then Apple CarPlay is for CarPlay. You can toggle between the two from there for things like radio.

Nick... my 2023 Maybach (picked up in Beverly Hills and drove it cross country on an 11-day road trip with my wife and 2 friends) continues to display a "Low Battery, Very Low Battery warning in my app and upon entering the vehicle. I was told by the salesperson (nice gent) the local Beverly Hills Mercedes dealer replaced the battery the day before I picked it up. It's a 2023 with 2,801 miles. I love this vehicle and have been learning how to use the MBUX system...thanks to you. But it appears the 12 volt starter battery loses it top charge quickly...even during the 2 hours I detail it after a road trip. Can you direct me to the battery's location and/or provide additional information that will help. Thanking you in advance.

Oh wow that sounds awesome! Well I have produced a video on a Mercedes Maybach once. That was a GLS Maybach! There are a load of gadgets on cars like that so I can imagine that it would require a lot of power! Sadly having only checked out that one model (Mercedes make a couple of Maybach models) I can only assume that the battery terminals are in the same place in the bonnet. They’ll be positive and negative terminals for charging etc. Although 2 hours seems quite low, was the ignition on? I can drain a car very quickly with the ignition on when filming content on for example my own car. But if it’s off that seems a little excessive.

Hi Nick. I have NTG7 which has recently been upgraded to MBUX 2.4. I have been trying to deactivate the ‘Do not leave persons or animals in the vehicle’ message which I find is pretty annoying. On page 82 of the manual it says to deactivate this message go into settings-vehicle-occupant protection. I do not get this in my car. Have you any ideas how to do this .? Thanks. Keep up the good work. Your videos are my first ‘go to’ for any questions I have.

Hi Nick. On NTG6 the phone icon on the main screen showed the “name of the phone” ie johns iPhone. Is it possible to name the phone icon on NTG7? . Also the Navigation icon showed street names. Can you get this on NTG7. Thanks. Great videos by the way.

You can but it copies the phone name that your phone is called. So on your phone go to Settings, General, About to change it. You’ll also need to disconnect and delete the Bluetooth paring from the car and phone for it to reflect the new changes 🤓 Glad you enjoy them! Thanks for watching! 🙏
