2008 Mercedes-Benz S550 with failing serpentine belt tensioner

I've done them on MB V8 and V6 . There's not much room for Tensioner. I removed the lower pannel for better access. Keep videos coming. 👍

Usually when I buy something expensive for my auto girlfriend, she lets me down. I remember a Honda I had. Bought her new struts. Soon thereafter there was an insurance scam where someone stopped and let me in through traffic and when I saw someone last minute coming, I pressed the accelerator and she bogged down and wouldn't accelerate past a crawl. She made no effort to brake and tboned me spinning me around because she was going so fast. Was on the way to repair an oil leak too. Now I won't even buy four new tires. At least yours was not too name brand? But looks like good rubber. German lady cars are so high maintenance when they are up in the age..

WIS recommends removal of the fan unit as there's no room, and having done it recently on this exact engine, I'd agree. Also, you're right, you can remove the tensioner without removing anything else to get to the bolts, you just need to take the tension off the belt and slide a drift into the hole to keep it slack and you can then get access to the hidden bolt. Continental sells a kit with replacement pulleys and a new belt. Next thing to do is the AC compressor pulley.

I saw the tensioner right off. How the heck to you remove the pulley? Looks like the bolt head broke off? Anyways looks like you're getting the tensioner assembly. Back to the crud in the oil. By the looks of the crud all over the alternator, lower hose, AC hose and other parts you have a leak. I'm guessing the crank seal. You jump around too fast for me to get a good look. I saw what looked like metallic bits on the alternator. As far as offing her for the truck, I think you look better in the Mercedes.

Before I watch this video I wanted to comment on the oil change. You showed us the filter. It had quite a bit of crud in it. You might have even ben blowing pass a bypass. It took forever to drain the pan and engine. Here it comes. Man I think you have a bunch of crud sitting on the bottom of the oil pan acting as little dams creating the oil to take forever to drain. You might even have crud stuck in the suction strainer. There is only one way to be 100% I'm wrong, Drop the pan. If you have crud in the pan you need to find out how it got there. I will watch your video now.
