Superb review with many details and lots of information. I especially enjoyed the safety demonstration where the presenter did not switch into "fanboy mode" as sadly most motor journalist do in these situations, but instead kept the Mercedes representative honest with excellent questions and very fair follow-ups (what about slippery/icey roads, will the windows close, what if the cross-traffic brakes, how does it work on the Autobahn). This made the whole part even more informative and well-rounded. Thanks! :)

These systems could have dramatic consequences in reducing vehicle related deaths and potentially even stop terrorists using vehicles as weapons. I can picture it now, terrorist sees a group of people he/she wants to mow down so he/she plants their foot aiming for the pedestrians only to find at the last second the car has stopped on its own. Terrorist happen to be driving a Mercedes resulting in one peed off terrorist off to jail. 😋

For me, this review was entirely different at all levels and I am not exaggerating to say that I enjoyed every second of it as I was very careful not to miss any one. This was an excellent review, the analysis of the vehicle quality on the first segment was perfect. Other reviewers should take note this is what subscribers are looking for. The demonstration of collision mitigation was very good and the reviewer tried to demo them on his own just as anyone would on a test drive. When buying any car people want to know, what does it look like on the outside, how does the quality feel inside and what's it like to drive. All these point were very well covered. Keep up the good work.

This is why I love Autogefuhl reviews. You guys get into the details of the car and what it's like trying to use its features everyday. People talk about other reviews being "exciting" because they do burnouts and drift around corners but how often will you do that in real life? I don't care about that. I want to know what it's like trying to adjust the radio or climate control while I'm driving on the highway.

+1. .. Mr Brian - Good review. A traditional Mercedes grill coupled with a lower stance then fitted with the gorgeous AMG alloy wheels (BBS aesthetic) make for a unique, understated look. .. My taste would opt for a slightly darker Grey Metallic ... but hey. Nice review!

Brian, nice detailed review, (although a bit long-winded and overly descriptive for my taste) but I just had to jump in and point out that the demo you're driving doesn't even sport the Burmester High End Audio System, yet you and Thomas were totally amazed and blown away by the performance of the basic audio system! In which case, the former would certainly give you a brain hemorrhage.

It would be super-awesome to see a Mercedes Benz S53e AMG since the in-line straight six is the new craze and the S560e is coming to market pretty soon, a full hybrid AMG version of that unit would be a super-awesome option... The Porsche Turbo S has shown that it is both practical and possible.

I am pretty sure that ‘bespoke area’ for the key is actually meant to hold the phone because it contains a wireless charging pad... I’d suggest keeping the key in your pocket and unlocking the doors with the touch pad on the handle.

Because of this review I am sold! The hard decision now is whether to choose the S65 and its Magic Body Control or the S63 and its blistering 0-60 time.

I really enjoyed this review, but I have to complain about your driving on the Autobahn. Just because you are driving 140kph+ it doesn't mean you should change to the left lane. As long as you are not overtaking you have to stay right! You are actually blocking the road and even force the car at 1:18:14 to overtake in the right lane which is very dangerous and totaly unnessecary in this situation! As a "car journalist" you should know/do better.

Great review and so thorough on a most impressive car. I felt so bad for Brian, however, roasting in the car without AC. I have a Lexus LS which, after the initial cool down, is quite silent with the climate control on. As I live in Florida, that AC is working at all times, but it isn't an intrusive noise except when starting out with a hot cabin. Couldn't you wait until after the cabin has reached a comfortable temperature and then start filming? We are always at our best when performing in comfort, and I will enjoy watching even more if I know that no one is suffering in the production.

Love the external look, not a fan of the grey interior though, personally I much prefer the ivory/black leather colour combination. Though the ivory or white coloured interiors would probably be a bugger to keep looking clean.
