I suggested this too. One of my favorites of his solo career. There is so much symbolism in the video. 1) the white feather that fell…..the feather was Roberts symbol while in Zeppelin. The fact that it was falling…he was putting Zeppelin behind him. 2) the school blackboard. After the death of his son, Robert almost left the band and became a teacher but was talked out of it by Bonzo, (Bonham) his best friend. Robert has said that he deals with tragedy by keeping moving. As he sings when he turns away from the blackboard (a different path he could have taken). “There is no turning back, on the run” It would be 30 years before Robert returned to live where he grew up and had his family. 3) The pool where he was swimming with the windows and someone knocking on them….He had lived his life while in Zeppelin in a “fishbowl” with little privacy. And by making the choice to continue his career, he was accepting that that would still be a part of it. This video was a darling of MTV and Plant was a frequent guest on that platform for interviews and to be a “guest VJ”. Those are just some I have noticed. I’m sure there were many others. I would love to know what picture he was tearing up. If it was a picture of Zeppelin, that would sure fit I believe they filmed this in Death Valley. And yes, if you travel in the desert and it’s 110 degrees or more, you’d best carry extra water for yourself….and your car.

The guitarist was Robbie Blunt, session guitarist who also would play with Tom Petty. Blunt would be in Roberts band for several years. Phil Collins (of Genesis) was on drums. Collins was on Plants first two albums and toured with him on his first solo tour. Robert, in his solo career, always surrounded himself with top-notch musicians, as you might expect.

The guitarist is Robbie Blunt. It appears the title came from an actual log they were wrestling with during the writing of this song. "'Big Log' was written in the middle of winter. We'd run out of fuel for the fire. We found the remains of an old tree lying outside, which was about 15 feet long, but had nothing to cut it with. So we put one end in the fire and slowly burnt it." As for the trope of the overheating car, I did actually experience that once as a child, riding with my mother across the desert on a hot day with the AC on. The pressure blew the radiator hose.

Rob Plant lives about five miles from me, he has been known to visit the local pub and get up and sing, I met him one day in my local Co Op supermarket, I was checking out the Classic Rock magazine, and there was a piece in there on his new album Band of Joy, we started chatting and he said to me Look at this, or words to that effect 😂 he then said he's eaten all our food, drank all our beer and partied with us all week and he's slated our album, there was then a few more choice words, he heard about a lad with a brain tumour in town and set up a small concert for him, Fantastic Bloke not up his own arse like a lot of them. As with the band his solo work is Brillaint and varied always reinventing himself with different music paths. 🤘

In the old days you bought a square canvas bag of water to carry on the grill of the car across the desert. That way you could add fresh water to the radiator. I guess modern cooling fluid is better unless the hose breaks.

FYI: Jimmy Page and Robert plant teamed up in 1998 and made a new album, "Walking Into Clarksdale." Something to eventually get around to. Robert also teamed up with Alison Kraus, a few years back, for "Raising Sand." Lots of good Robert Plant material since his time with Led Zepplelin. "Fate of Nations" is one of my favorite post-Zeppelin projects.

Robert didn’t have the confidence to create or perform after the loss of John Bonham. He credits Phil Collins with giving him the encouragement the get back on the horse, and just to do what you do. Phil plays drums on that album called Pictures At Eleven.

This album is underappreciated. Pictures at Eleven is filled with songs that are very reminiscent of LZ. At the time it gave us hope that the sound wasn't lost forever. Robert carried on the tradition reasonably well but none matched the resonance that his first solo album produced, at least to me. I'm sure some, perhaps many would disagree.
