Tony Joe White was an American singer-songwriter & guitarist, best known for his 1969 hit "Polk Salad Annie" & for "Rainy Night In Georgia". Brook Benton had a big hit with "Rainy Night In Georgia" in 1970. "Polk Salad Annie" was also recorded by Elvis Presley & Tom Jones. He also wrote "Steamy Windows" &"Undercover Agent For The Blues", both hits for Tina Turner in 1989.

I remember being at work in the early 90's and hearing a song being played in the store I worked at. I REALLY wanted to know who it was and found out later somehow......Tony Joe White - (You're gonna look) Good in blues. Instant fan, love his music, got a good stack of his albums.

Of course we remember the Brook Benton version, but it's cool to learn the back story. You should hear the Benton recording we heard on the radio. Not too different, but the one that's known best.

Polk Salad Annie is another good one by Tony Joe White if you haven't checked it out yet, also Conway Twitty and Sam Cooke do a great version of Rainy Night In Georgia, great reaction.

Sam Jones is who sings with Conway, from Sam & Dave, Agree it's a great version and funny listening to them talk back and forth in the end. Also a great Duets album that it comes from 🎶
