Dripping with gobs of classic Aussie understatement. No "And now to go through the checklist" or "Let's put it on the paddock stand and see if the clutch works", no, its "Well, better take it for a ride". Love it.

You could not mistake the sound of your bike, having owned 3 big Mercurys in my life the idle is unmistakeable a Mercury! I det it sounds fantastic when it comes on song, that's what I remember, the incredible roar from the induction ports, Fantastic job Malcolm!

Couldn't agree more. The absolute rumble from my 3.0 liter 260+hp merc V6 is wicked at idle. Although the nastiest port timing of any factory mercury was the 175 hp 2.0L V6. Had one of those back in the day and it was wicked at idle.

Fantastic! I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it looks too. I hope you're pleased with it! Bike magazine in the UK did a feature on an outboard powered drag bike (2.7 litre V6??) - it would have been in the early 1980s.

Love the build mate. Sounds weird, a bike that sounds like a boat. Ride position doesn't look too bad with those extended bars. Must feel weird turning with them. Super clean build. I like your new bike. It's a fine build and inspirational, I love "unique" things. When you are pioneering something, especially when you're wedding two existing machines of differing purposes, you have to adapt to what already exist and you did great but i see a potential problem with your air filter breather. The location on the top and thru the tank is really neat but if you had rain, it could puddle up and soak thru to your intake which could be problematic. I still give you a 9.5 😊👍

Same, I want to repower a fairly modern sport/naked bike with a nasty triple. Always loved triple 2-strokes but not many bikes had them and the few that did like the H2 or the Water Buffalo are so sought after & expensive. Leaning towards an SRX 700 or Thundercat 1000. Either way it requires the use of a divorced transmission. The only real logical choice is a Harley type like a Baker 6spd. Don't know exactly what this fellow has but by the side cover, its definitely a Harley type transmission.
@Zach-ju5vi
@Zach-ju5vi Жыл бұрын
@@mytmousemalibuwhy don't you just use the CTV clutch system off the snowmobile? It would simplify the entire project.
@mytmousemalibu
@mytmousemalibu Жыл бұрын
@@Zach-ju5vi Why, for the same reason I would never buy a sports car with an automatic transmission. Yes it would be easier but I have no interest in a CVT.
@Zach-ju5vi
@Zach-ju5vi Жыл бұрын
@@mytmousemalibu I understand because I am that guy as well but you might be missing all the benefits and logic it brings to the table. First of all, a Harley Transmission is taking away all weight advantages from the two stroke engine. Second, the Cvt is far superior in performance and it allows the engine to sing at max load continuously. If you're looking for a Sunday cruiser a two stroke might not be the best engine either, two stroke is more of a performance engine that requires a lot of maintenance. Third, a separate transmission is going to lengthen the bike (like the one in the video) and it's not very aesthetically pleasing. A maico 700 engine could be a solution but honestly the Cvt will have you smoking guys on the streets.

Fantastic! LONG ago, before all the current turbo'd, super "ecoboost" type engines on vehicles these days, I wondered if a bit (originally thinking Evinrude(?) V8) outboard engine could be fitted to a small-ish car for a lot of power with not nearly the weight of normal V8 engines. Mostly wondered about the cooling, and as I'm not a builder of your capabilities, and living in California where it'd most likely be banned for emissions, never went anywhere beyond my mind... :) So congratulations!
