I'm having issues with my 2004 mercury 50hp running. I'm loosing my prime and fuel bulb gets soft and engine dies out. If you reach back and manually pump it, it picks back up for a few minutes and does it again. I was thinking either the filter or bulb/fuel line. I replaced those and it didnt fix anything. It mainly does it while idling or going slow. When I'm at full throttle it seems to run great. Do you think a fuel pump could be the culprit? That's my next best guess.

@@nickdes1977 I would start out by removing the spark plugs and see what they look like. They should be a coca brown, if they are wet, or black, try to determine by smell and touch if it is too much fuel or oil? I have concerns with the oil line being broken, that the engine may have been oil starved. Next run a compression check on all four cylinders should be 120 to 140 PSI. All cylinders within 10% of each other is best. My email address is rickyhembel@hotmail.com send me pictures of the plugs tips before you touch them.

@@HRIservicesllcSturgeonBay Good Afternoon, Thank you for your very kind response. I sent the picture to your Email. The plugs actually looked good. Here is what we did so far. 1. Ran a compression check , 1,2,3 had 140 psi, # 4 had 130. Top to bottom is how I listed the numbers .2. My son ran an ohms test on coils, #3 was out, #4 was low, we replaced 3 and 4 3. The plugs and wires were changed last year 20194. 4 Change out fuel filter 5. replaced cracked oil line to the y. 6. We replaced the rectifier needlessly. 7. 7. Change prop as it was obviously bent I think the engine runs on 2 cylinders until you put it in drive . That is what the marina guy told me when we bought it.
