After a viral video at Lake Merritt in Oakland, a rally at City Hall demanded that leaders take action for what critics say was a bad rule. They also called for the City Council to be more transparent about the phone all a white woman put to police about two black men barbecuing.

You have an illegal charcoal barbecue in the wrong part of the park with no charcoal disposal bins available. What are you going to do with the dangerous charcoal coals? The coals are almost impossible to dispose of so you end up dumping them on the ground. The coals will remain red hot for the next 10 to 20 hours and become a nearly invisible booby trap on the ground with no smoke and no red glow. Four hours after you are gone the worst-case scenario happens. Someone's little baby girl is playing in the park and trips and falls face-first into the red hot coals that you dumped on the ground. She gets absolutely horrific burn injuries and she is facially disfigured for life. The parents never saw the danger lurking on the ground. You committed an act of criminal negligence and you need to be prosecuted in a court of law and convicted and sent to jail. The parents should each be given the opportunity to give you a good swift kick in the ass for being so selfish, lazy, and irresponsible.

The "BBQ Becky" incident is the highest-profile viral video case in the history of the United States. An innocent woman that was doing the right thing to protect the children in her community almost paid for it with her life because of a sleazy lying viral exploitation video. The viral video created a massive Internet and real life hate mob. She was 100% right, she was not racist, and the two men were in the wrong area in the park where they had no charcoal disposal bins. The two men were breaking the law and potentially putting children in extreme danger and they got busted by the police and shut down. Note that charcoal burning on the ground can remain red hot for between 10 and 20 hours and it is almost impossible to see with no smoke and no red glow. This case is the highest profile event in the history of the United States where an innocent person became the victim of a maliciously posted viral video. That video created the most massive tsunami of irrational hatred towards one person ever. And to make it worse, she was 100% right the whole time and doing the right thing to protect the children in her community from two men that were breaking the law and potentially putting children in extreme danger.
