I've visited the Philippines 3 times, it's a memorable thing for my experience personally. Whether it's food, drink, nature and communication in the Philippines is great fun. Not only that, I also learned what is in the Philippines is about simplicity, kindness and a smile that's what I got while in the Philippines. For me personally, if I'm honest, the Philippines is not bad overall, but people don't know the beauty of the Philippines. Especially for Filipinos, thank you for giving me a pleasant impression and experience while I was in the Philippines. Oh yeah and also I don't forget the "BALUT" food which I don't like, I can't eat it, because I'm not used to it and just from the shape of it my appetite is gone. hehehehe... 😆 I like Philippines, hopefully tourists in the philippines increase and make the economy in the philippines develop. You are freaking talented, man! These are not vlogs, these are like little documentaries. Spectacular presentations, really spot on, even the music underscore. I’m guessing you have a film background (?). So many vloggers have gone through those same areas, but you’re presenting them in a different and refreshing way. Ayala is the name of one of the most prominent families in the Philippines. A Spanish Filipino family going back to colonial times, they own a lot of malls and land developments around the country. The orange one is Casava cake, the other is probably a type of Biko, a sweet rice cake with a coconut/sugar caramel topping. Looking forward to seeing more. Cheers! Oh…btw… it’s /ma KAH tee/ Stress on the second sylLABle. 😉 Although, your pronunciation gives it a ‘ joie de vivre ‘. Also, if you stress the last syllable, it means “ itchy” …LOL!

I love your videos, Mergim! One tip for pronouncing Filipino words and sounding more like a native is to note where the stress is on the word. It's not always easy to know which syllable to stress. For "Makati" for example, the stress is on the 2nd syllable (mah-CAH-tee). Stressing the 3rd syllable makes it sound like a word which means "itchy." It would be best to ask a native speaker how to pronounce the word and taking note of the accent.

Thank you for letting me see again my playground. Shoemart (SM), Landmark, and Greenbelt Malls are where my parents brought me to play when I was a toddler/small child. I was sorely disappointed when I saw some of the malls here in the US (East Coast). They're incomplete and not "green" /eco friendly, despite the big square footage. You're exposed to the elements to get to the building where you need to go to. Only to find out that not all the items you need are there. That you have to go out again and be exposed to bad weather to search if a certain store is within the vicinity. But actually, it's not there. Foods halls too I find lacking. I envied you guys finding those cassava cakes and bico (glutinous rice cake cooked in muscovado brown sugar) by just exploring Greenbelt Mall a little bit. Meanwhile, I have to travel 2 hours in a smelly, dirty subway train car here in Manhattan to get to Queens, NY where Filipino ingredients and restaurants are sometimes available, if I'm lucky. I wish someday my fellow Filipinos will appreciate our malls there in the Philippines like Shoemart(SM), Landmark, and Greenbelt because all the great brands (European, American, Asian, Filipino brands) are already there in one interconnected building. Greenbelt is special because of its green oasis. Not all malls all over the world have these kind of luxuries. I know because I traveled worldwide already. Besides, home is where the heart is. I want to add stomach to that famous quote. No matter how expensive or flashy other cuisines are, the flavors of home will still be # 1 to one's taste buds.

@@rodnaspi2808 BGC is not a city in the Philippines despite its name. It is just a small business and lifestyle district that is only 2.5km2. Just search YT Slums Pasig, Slums Makati, Want to compete with developed countries high income developed countries like Singapore and S Korea? What a joke.....

Very down to earth couple.... still ridding the jeepney instead of ridding a grab back at the hotel... its what i like in you guys.... Greenbelt malls are my favorite malls in manila... it's maybe because i grew up going to it and familiar of the place by heart... but there are much more beautiful malls to explore in manila the biggest and most bizarre shopping places you could ever imagine... I know you will also explore mall of Asia and Venice grand canal mall and much more... just glad to know you are enjoying the Philippines so far... have more fun and take care always... ¡hasta pronto!

Makati used to be an airport. And, if I'm not mistaken, that first rice cake you ate was a cassava cake. Those two would be great with a cup of ☕.

that "oasis" you talked about was used to be a huge aviary, but "modernization" and "development" came along then a storm ripped through the area destroying ancient trees. so now all you see a tiny oasis, a mere footnote of its former self.

The starchy cakes and pastries made from rice, plantains, coconut, and various root crops (taro, sweet potato, yams, potato, ube, cassava, etc.) are generally called "kakanin" ("kanin" = rice; "kain" = to eat). There are various kinds with their own name: biko, kalamay, suman, puto, kutsinta, etc. Each town has a bakery or confectionary that sells various types of local snacks, candies, and desserts which you may not find elsewhere. I suggest you buy a folding set of spoon+fork+knife and bring tissues/paper napkins and a bottle of water in your travels so you won't have problems like you did with the snacks you bought. You'll need those things in the countryside.
