Hula is more than just a dance it's a way of life. My daughter has traveled across the mainland and then on to Hilo to be a part of this wonderful celebration and to rejuvenate the hula within herself to be able to educate others to the culture and this wonderful way of life. Best wishes to all the participants.

All these Hawaiian dancing and the beautiful people who were amazing just makes me love Hawaii even more! I live in CA., but every time I get to go to the beautiful islands, I’m always in Awe! When God created this World, He made sure all of Hawaii is one of the most beautiful places to see and the nicest people I ever met in Hawaii! My husband and I have spent several anniversaries in Hawaii, last year was our 25th Anniversary and that Anniversary is even more fun, more romantic and so special to us because I survived having breast cancer over a year ago and it was an emotional roller coaster, issues with my father and his wife brought me so down into depression, so when I was cancer free and my dad and I are close again. My husband surprised me and told me that we’re going to Oahu and Maui for our anniversary, it was the best gift ever! I’m so blessed to have an amazing husband and I really hate flying..ugh.. but to get to Hawaii, I’ll pretend I’m not freaking out in silence on the plane! Lol.. It was all worth it!! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful video! 💖🌺💖🌺💖🌺💖

Absolutely floored every time I watch the dancers at this festival. I'm always so impressed by the talent, poise and grace each dancer has. Especially the lovely women dancers in red. So elegant and poised. Hula is so beautiful. I would love to learn it myself one day.

Went to this last year, it was my first Hula experience. I was blown away by the beauty, conviction and sincerity so much it made me cry. Didn't see that coming. Almost had to leave the building I was so overwhelmed. My daughter lives in Hilo and glad my grandchild will be born into Hilo love.

We were in Hawaii last month. The dancers, the people, the islands and everything about that place is magical. When you're there, it's like a different world where negativity can't touch you.

I'm a hula dancer from Japan. I really like to dance hula not only hula but also tahiti. I have participated queen liliuokalani competition before. I wanted to perform hula at this time but I'm living in Japan, so I can't, and I'll go mainland soon to study abroad for a year and I won't be able to dance... I'm so sad, miss hula and jealous to them.....

While the athleticism of other dancers (ballet, step, tap, etc) maybe equal, the performers don't smile like this! I will add that none of those forms have such expressive and beautiful hands as part of the dance. Thank you for the upload!

Not sure what all this blabbering about christianity in the comments has to do with the beautiful perfomance in the video and I'm glad to see fat and thin girls dance together showing off their amazing skills. We're all the same.

I don't know how this was on my recommended videos. But I'm glad it was. It was a surprisingly relaxing video to watch. These young people performed very well. They take pride in what they are doing, and it shows. I have to say though. My favorite were the very little girls. Kids that age are just too darn cute in any performance. Guess it's the dad in me.. lol

You may be very correct! However i am not interupting the merrie monarchy concert in person; I am merely stating my views! if you think i am wrong and rude that is your opinion and i will let it go at that; and if i was trying to lecture anyone i would give you countless scriptures from the Holy Bible and show you THRU OUT HISTORY FROM THE OLDEST BOOK ON EARTH how dead wrong you ALL can be and are
@stellaakina86255 жыл бұрын
Oh please give it a rest. Merrier Monarch is a cultural celebration. Let it be. If its falling on Easter offends u then don't watch it. Let others who enjoy it do so without being condemned for worshipping 2 gods. Let me tell u Hawaiians are VERY AWARE n respectful of God.

Jerrod John lmao, the stupidity that hides in the brain of religious people are scary.
@georgewashingmachine39575 жыл бұрын
Jerrod John plus, they don’t worship your god, so they can organise the event at any fucking time they want. They don’t give a shit about it being on Easter, and other non-religious people don’t give a shit either, so stop complaining. Nobody cares.

@@picklecat4819 i am not sorry to tell you you and your hawaiian gods including the infamous madamned paylay/pelee or whom ever you claim she is; that you and all of your hawaiian kingdumb's are horribly miss, Informed. yes MY GOD covered the queens bath, royal gardens, lelani estates, and kapaho at least twice in my life time and can do the whole world again. your false FAKE gods are a mere fairy tales that that was brought to the hawaiian islands by a howlee men (grow up man!) end up being lies, upon more lies; yes yes let satan keep lieing to you and all your friends in your hawaiian gods fairy tales

O.k. so lets just assume every holiday is quote "pagan" the Christians celebrate Easter- Christ- "arising from the dead" and Christmas "Jesus' brith; If at all possible can you tell me why merrie monarchy changed its usual past celebrations from late march to exactly when Christians celebrate their "Easter Sunday" really! No excuses as to why merrie monarchy has to fall right on Easter Sunday celebrations, and You can keep paganing all of the Christian holidays. you will still come out WRONG!

Oh please what? give it a rest? then it let be and quit replying to my answering other people. I dont need 50 people replying to me on the same thing; just let it go! @jerrodjohn22745 жыл бұрын
move it back like they had it in the old days. Back to late March. but of coarse they will make another excuse as to why they have to have it on Easter Sunday and not after kids get summer vacation break and therefore also tourist season does pick up more in the summer months

no i am not twisting my panties all abut it. i am saying the people who run merrie monarchy want to disrupt Easter Sunday, and yes you are correct merrie monarchy has absolutely nothing to do with Easter Sunday

Oh good gods. Get over yourself. If you knew ANYTHING you'd know a huge portion of dancers are Christians who celebrate their ancestors. No everyone on this earth is a Christian, and you certainly do not understand the true spirit of Christianity. If this so offends you, don't come here, watch and comment. Go watch your Christian based videos instead.
