Okay I have had mine now for about 6 months, I LOVE IT!! I found a deal on CL for $600 , and since I already had the Mesa 2x12 cab I am set. I had played on so many different amps and was kind of let down with the limited selection of versatile amps that were affordable. For my needs this amp is perfect, Cleans are sweet, and big, pushed clean is great, classic on the verge of break up. The dirty is AMAZING, anywhere from vintage to METAL, but because it is 25 amps don't think it can't gig. This amp is LOUD!!!! The tone is a bit different than the Regular sized Double rec because it is an EL84 tube amplifier hand built in California!!! So there is a bit more mids which is perfect for me. One last thing is that it takes pedals beautifully, that is no joke.

The amp is $1000 ($400 more than most competitors) because it is hand built in the USA, unlike others such as the Orange Micro and Dark terrors which are made in China. USA labor adds the extra price.

Totally worth it in my opinion :). You can get this head for $650 + shipping used on Ebay and Reverb if you wait for the right deal to come along.

I think this demo just sold me an amp... I can't believe someone below said the cabinet was bad... It's a closed back cab with a Celestion Vintage 30 speaker for cripes sake! With a speaker so epic, how can it possibly be such a bad cab? I think some people take the sound in KZbin demos a bit too seriously, I'm sure that little cab sounds lovely in person! ;)

Yes, I have this with a 2x12 cab. He's definitely not using all the available gain on the modern sound. This amp is awesome.

I ended up picking up an F-50 for $430 used, so, for quiet, it's just pre tubes, but i can live with it. It sound good at moderate levels and awesome at loud levels. I think I'll build my own class A. I want 4 x 12AX7 and one 6L6 main.

Yes, Carvin is another USA Company that makes a great product. Have you ever heard of Splawn Amps? Made in Dallas, N. Carolina. I call their amps Marshall killers :-) I just received my Splawn Quick Rod. Fantastic made product not rushed out the door like others out there. It has that souped up Plexi & Modded JCM-800 sound. They are built like a tank and will peel the paint off the walls. I can't recommend them enough. 2-3 Month wait for one though.

u want kick ass lunch box, marshall sounding- peel your face tone, go buy a tiny terror, then do the british glory mod to it. it will blow away any other lunch box amp. i modded my 1st one myself and recently sold it, (got layed off work) but will buy another tt and do the mod again. tt + british glory mod ftw. yes ive owned the 25w recto also. vintage mode sounds better and less fizzy than the modern channel, but it does nail that mesa boogie tone everyone knows.

It sounds much better! I have a mini rectifier cab and I have a 2x12 vertical slant cab and The mini rectifier sounds much better through the 2x12. BTW the vertical slant cab sounds better than the Horizontal rectifier cab IMHO. I'm selling both cabs by the way! Too many cabs and gear around!

It's a Mesa Combo, 1X12 Celestion G-12, 2 channel amp with 4 12ax7 and 2 6l6's. cheers

Actually 1K for this is not bad since my full size Roadster head retailed for $2200 and the Mini EVH 5150 III goes for $999.99 but it's a 50 watt amp. He actually should have ran this amp into a full MEsa 4x12 Recto cab which it will drive very easy. Thank God Mesa will not go outside the US to make their amps, we still have some pride left in the old USA. Blackstar is all manufactured in Asia and their Series One are not cheap in price by any means.

These are nice compact amps. I don't think 1K is outrageous considering it can be a gig amp. In regards to it's less than expected sales, that is thanks to it's street price relative to the competition. The Carvin V3M is $949 with a 212 shipped and that is a really big seller. Perhaps if Mesa threw in a 212 cab they would have more appeal. I think it's great that there are still companies like Mesa who won't outsource their manufacturing.

Totally agree. Mesa went a little overboard on the price point for this. Might have been better off introducing an entirely new low wattage amplifier design with Rec characteristics. This is $1K for "something less than the original"....I would love to have one of these in my collection. However, I can get so much more for the same money. Though it kills me to say it....overseas labor woulda put this around $499-549 which is where it would sell like hotcakes. Major fail for Mesa's marketing R&D.

I own a roaster and love it. just ordered the mini for 700....over priced maybe. I try to buy USA as much as possible. Worse amps I have ever owned was China outsourced. H&K tubemiester 18 probably the worse amp I have ever owned and second was jet city picovalve. The best China made probably would be blackstar. All in all its about the quest for tone no matter what flag is behind it. You tend to get what you pay for.

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I personally think Mesa is built better than Carvin. Over-priced a bit but it depends what you want to do with it. The Orange Dark Terror Chapper's did had the Orange out in Front just because of the price difference. Another option is the Jet City JCA-22 which is 399 I think, you can find them for less though. Look into the new pedals MEsa just came out with also.

Plugged it in a 2x12 Vintage 30's, with a LP the other day. Probably 30% better than this Demo! On 25W or 10W you get a feedback effect with the gain on half. Just not explainable for me....but sure one of the best!!!!

Close miking? Far miking? You can't truly understand the sound of an amp until you stand in a room with it... As soon as you introduce something into that chain of sound, you immediately taint the result...

Here is a idea of the flexibility. I originally used it for it's glassy cleans with time based effects. I have used it for 70s ZZ top type tone,heavy blues,Frank Marino etc... Through various 2x12 cabs Mesa closed,a few Marshalls and a Marshall 2x12 I opened the back on with Golds. Speakers Celestion Golds,G12h30s, V30s.... All sound good. Now I actually matched up the tone very close to my Marshall YJM100 and run them together in stereo. One cab is a Mesa with v30s and the other has h12hs. With their ods off I can go from 70s classic rock and kick in their ods and get the classic 80s heavy metal thunder. However the knobs look cool but are the worst EVER to see. Even marked with nail polish they are terrible. I set everythng but the gains and volumes straight up and run into a MXR 10 band EQ. Brightly lit with sliders is the way to go.

Paul Bateman cause in most mesa amps, they bias the tubes on the cooler side. onced biased with a little more voltage in the tube section, it really opens it up. now youll go through tubes like crazy doing that, but its all for tone right.....
