Excellent Recording quality! You really captured the "in the room with the amp" sound. Great job showcasing that the EQ sliders are useful for more than just V-curve!

Not a great review of the tones available. Seems like everything was mid gain and trying to sound like a Marshall witht the EQ and gain settings.

+headunits I think they are using tones that would sit well in a band mix, rather than in isolation. Also, you can see the mid control on both channels is actually below the 12 o'clock position :)

No it isn't.. the mid control is at 12 o clock to 2 o clock, going up a little as the video progresses...

So I am wondering how does the Mark 5:35 compare in tone to the Mark 5:25. I felt the 25 when cranked to 6-7 lost allot of it lower awesome tone. ???

It's the same sound as the EL84 Studio 22 from the 80's and the EL84 Subway Rocket from the 90's . I have both, both great sounding amps. This Mark V 35 has a little more versatility and some more power too. Nice !

yes, but 35 watts is needed in a band without p.a. if you're not mic'ed. With 25 watts you won't keep it clean at high band volume.

Also the 35 has the Cab cone built in (which is shit) and the 35 comes in a head or combo. 25 was head only.

MEDium Studios The 25w version has the cabclone too. the only differences between that one and this one is that this version (35w) has the 'Solo' thing, which is like a dual master for both channels (a boost, that's it), and the other difference is the cabclone itself: the 35w has one more voicing option - the 'vintage mode', which (like every other option on the cabclone) sounds like shit.

NuZ A. Ah, idk. I am old school and prefer micing my cab. To me when I find that "tone" I like... I want my listeners to hear what i am hearing. so depending on the head/combo I mic the front of the cab, the back of the cab, and a room mic too, and blend them together until it sounds like what I hear live. But I am also an ameture and dont know any better! I have a full sized Mark V and I love it. I keep wanting to get a smaller Mesa and always look at the mark V:25.

I really loved the clean and fat clean setting. Very Tweed bassman-like. All other settings in this clip sounded dull and muffled. The treble on the second channel being turned down explains that partially but the mids were not pleasant either.

There were some puzzling selections of the tone eq knobs as well as the 5 band eq. In most videos I've seen of this amp they roll back the bass on the knobs and compensate with the eq as gain increases.

I owned an F-50. And while I did really enjoy that amp, this amp is superior in my opinion as far as tone and versatility.

I've had two Mark V combos, sorry to say both were an unmitigated disaster, won't be going near one of these! Having said that my old Electra Dyne was superb, go figure!

Larry Tate First one would pick up all the local taxi and police radios in different venues, then it developed horrible buzzing in some of the modes for some reason, final straw was when it started changing channels itself halfway through a gig. 2nd one I got in a trade but it had volume issues from the start, tech fixed it but I wasn't hanging around for another repeat of my first one! Like I said, my old Electra Dyne was rock solid and, in my opinion, sounded better anyway, though it was a much simpler amp.

Does this perform well at lower volumes? I know the 25 watt version does but also curious about the 35. I saw a comparison vid to the Rectoverb 25 and the guy said the R25 only sounds worthwhile cranked whereas the 25 was great even at low volumes

My Mark III combo blew this thing out of the water tone-wise. I have pretty much hated everything that they came out with after the Mark III series. When I bought my Mark III half-stack back in 87, for about 2k, I felt it was more than worth it. I would NEVER pay the prices they ask for sounds like this. Blech! Don't even get me started on the Cab-Clone feature. :(

Most peculiar mama. I’ve got a mark three red stripe and the mark 5:35 and I can dial up the mark three tone with the mark five. Both are absolutely killer amplifiers. Mesa is still rocking it

That semi hollow tele does NO justice to the capability of the amp. I just bought one and I'm not completely sold yet. My DC 5 had killer sound. My favorite of the Mesa line. So far I have to say the bottom end of this amp is lacking. Gonna buy an additional 12 and see what that does. The EQ takes some getting used to, do yourself a favor and READ the manual

I don't think that fender is good for reviewing hi gain sound. It's so muddy and uninspiring. When you change to SG, it really brings out the sweet tone of mark V.

This guy had no idea what he was doing with the settings. The clean mode sounded clipped, the extreme mode sounded soft. And no plectrum for over half of the video.
