Just got done lifting my taco. Turned out it was an even 2.5" on all 4 corners plus the bigger tires accounting for 4" in lift. (2) warnings went off - collision warning (TSS) and the vehicle stability control. Right after having it aligned, the front came down almost an inch and the taco was back to having the 1" rake in the back like OEM. There were no warnings on the dash best of all. Lesson learning - try to maintain 1" of rear rake when lifting to avoid the TSS from going off.

Man Rob! I saw the title, and HAD to watch this one, as I totally HATE the TSS system! But I also noticed your truck only had 1600+ miles on it. Let me tell you about my experience with my 2019 TRD Sport. When I first bought it this past April 2019, during the first 2000 miles, the PCS warning light would come on, much like what you were making it do in this video. But it would come on for no reason, as the windshield was clean as well as the sensor cover. Very annoying! If I turned off the truck and restarted it, the PCS light would be off and things would work fine for weeks. BUT, after I hit 2000 miles, it seemed to clear up and never came on. That is, until October 4 2019, when I left the San Francisco Bay area, to drive to the East coast. About an hour into my drive, the PCS light came on, with message saying "PCS System unavailable, Clean Sensor". Well, I left at 1130pm at night, but still, there were no bugs on the sensor cover and the windshield was still clean. So why did it come on? I didn't stop until about 3 hours later when I got gas, so I cleaned the sensor cover then and after getting back on the road, the PCS light was out until about 30 minutes later, when it came on again, with same message. This continued ALL THE WAY across the United States for 5 days, until I arrived at the Outer Banks of NC on October 9th. I would say that on the entire trip across the country, the PCS Light was on about 90% of the trip, making the Toyota Safety Sense system, totally useless when I would need it most, on a cross country trip! I mean, man, I was pretty pissed about it, since it seems to be a big thing that Toyota promotes! On the morning of the 10th, when I went outside to get in the truck, it was covered with salt ocean spray, and I could hardly see out of the windows all around. AND YET, from that day forward, I got NO PCS OFF light, nor did I get any messages! The TSS system worked perfectly OK all the way back to the west coast! I can tell a difference too, since I have been back home, in how the PCS warning buzzer works just in riding around town. Right now, I would say it works as it is supposed to work, but it only started working as I said, when I got to the east coast, and at that time, the mileage was about 6700 miles! Now that I am back, and it just turned over 10,000 miles, it is working just fine. I told all of this to the dealer when I took it in for the 10,000 mile service, and he said that indeed, the TSS system is a "learning system", which is why it took so long to work as intended. I don't know if that is a crock or not, but I can say it is working now, at least, for the time being! I for one, wish I could deactivate or remove entirely, the whole dang TSS system, including the DRCC [Dynamic Radar Cruise Control], as that is hideous the way it works. It is totally annoying to have to push the CC button in and hold it for a couple of seconds, to activate the NORMAL CC, instead of just hitting the button and setting the cruise speed. So I just wanted to tell you that I TOTALLY RELATE to your feelings about the TSS system! Thanks Rob, again, for all you do!
@RobMotive5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your experience with the system. Not sure why they told you it has a learning curve? First time I’ve heard that. Good that it seems to be working now for you👍

@@RobMotive They also said basically the same thing when I was complaining about the crazy transmission! It too, was pretty pathetic during the first 2000 miles, but then it seems to have settled down and performs actually quite well around town. In fact, I am getting better gas mileage around town with my 2019 TRD Sport than I did with my 1996 Tacoma! BUT, it was during this cross country road trip, that I discovered how I HATE this transmission on the highway! If you set your cruise control, which most people would do on a cross country trip, the thing is going to make dang sure it STAYS at whatever speed you set it at! I mean, if you set it at 65, and you begin to go up even a slight incline, the dang transmission will downshift 2 gears to 4th, and all of a sudden, instead of cruising along at 1800rpms at 65mph, the engine is now SCREAMING at me because it is now running 3500rpms because of the downshift, and as such, the gas mileage drops like a rock! The reverse happens when going downhill in some of those mountain areas, where they say something like "5% grade next 3 miles". On regular cruise control in the old days, the vehicle would just increase in speed while going downhill, but in this Tacoma, once again, it DOWNSHIFTS into 4th, so it uses the transmission to brake or slow down the vehicle in order to maintain the cruise control speed! Once again, the rpms jump to 3500, and gas mileage drops like arock, all while the engine is screaming! Another thing related to the transmission I noticed on this trip, is how speed radically affects gas mileage. When cruising through those states that have 75mpg speed limit, I noticed that gas mileage dropped dramatically to 20-21mpg. BUT, when cruising at 60-65mph, the gas mileage was 25-26mpg, which to me, for the truck, is pretty darn good! But that is a 20% drop in gas mileage, when going from 65mph to 75mph. I didn't think it would have THAT much of a dramatic effect! So in summarizing, I love the truck as far as comfort and styling, I mean, when I would come out of the various travel centers after getting gas and going to the bathroom, I would always notice how my truck was the best looking truck in the lot, which always made me smile! But I hate the TSS system and the transmission on the highway.
