I'm from a no name school back in India, moved to US. People think there's only one way to succeed through big names - sure, they'd fast forward your career but there are ton of other ways too. One non negotiable is being surrounded with amazing people.

Which path did you choose?

"One non negotiable is being surrounded with amazing people." Well, guess what, you have a higher likelihood of meeting those people at "big" name schools.

This is nuts. Going through leetcode grind even after acquisition 😂😂

Such a great podcast and very relatable. Currently deciding whether to join big tech or a startup and Rahul's story really resonated with me.

Sure thing, I can make some content to help you with that Rahul briefly went over that working closely with a Staff eng made a big difference for him

This guy's (Rahul) whole personality is his $800,000 salary as a Meta Engineer FFS. It's so annoying, he keeps saying that in every fkin video and now he's selling subscription courses. Yeah dude, we get it. You had a $800,000 salary, and you put in a lot of work, but don't forget that a lot of luck is involved as well.

Of all the guests I've had, he's the one that credits his success most to luck. You can see here where he talks about it 1:08:54

the biggest unfair advantage he had is that he went to Stanford. The rest of us can NEVER get these opportunities. We're stuck at TCS or Infosys.

"Unfair advantage" = Working hard and going to Stanford. Yikes. You don't even need to be from a T500 school to get into a Faang. You just need to be able to do well in the interviews.

@ Clearly you aren’t in touch. Since about 2016 it’s become impossible. Harvard Stanford Princeton whatever “Columbia” is and all the others have been rejecting everyone. There is merit based admissions. It’s all legacies donors athletes and others. It is totally unfair that he got Stanford on his resume. It’s not something others can do. People from “Iowa state” CANT compete with this guy. UNFAIR
@JingJaoАй бұрын
@ I’m from a T1000 and I’ll tell y’all the resume DOESNT EVEN PASS THE SCREENING. I applied with referrals and it still didn’t pass. This is the state of hiring. You need to be from a T50 to even have a chance.

@@nafis_rk Many valedictorian, including myself don't make it to Stanford or Princeton or Harvard. So it is definitely unfair.

@@jm1835 Github 56 projects built. GPA 3.05/4.00. Hackathons 3 of them joined. Yeah I don't think it's an issue with me. It's just an unfair advantage these people have. I can make it to TCS and Infosys (which I am working at), but anything better is impossible. THIS IS UNFAIR.
