Out of the cheap adapters i've tried, i also agree that in general Fotasy is of good consistent quality (among the Chinese named brands). Cheap, good built quality, function and flange tolerances are quite good. Fotga often sits on the other end of satisfaction spectrum. Pretty and extra cheap, but often lacking on flange distances (0.5-1.0mm even!), or getting it wrong all together. But short flange can be fixed, and even they (Fotga) are getting better. Sometimes even the no-name adapters rise to the top, for quality vs. value. You never know, for better or worse (unless embarking on extensive research prior). Still, out of named brands i do recommend Fotasy and suggest to avoid Fotga, unless you're dead-set, know what you're getting or just feel like rolling the dice :)

You missed one other point that makes the Metabones superior, the tripod mount. Larger vintage lenses typically are made from metal and can be quite heavy. I'm reluctant to use these older heavier lenses on my M43 camera if I'm using a tripod. I just don't like that heavy lens hanging off the M43 mount without support.

That's an excellent point!

Tripod mount is very important indeed. I wish other manufacturers such a Zhongyi (Lens Turbo) would include that in their future iterations (built-in arca-swiss for example). Might aswell contact them about it right now and suggest, assuming they're interested of customer feedback / suggestions.

I just received my Fotasy MD-M4/3 adapter today and a tripod mount is part of the body of the adapter.

With these non-electronic adapters, you can't set the aperture right?

Nope.

Seems they stop your lense to its largest F stop number.

Zhongyi focal reducers according to most videos is actually sharper and cost about a 1/3rd of the Metabones...I have one of these for Nikon to Fuji and m42 to Fuji..

My first focal reducer will be Zhongyi's Lens Turbo II aswell. Now there's no reason not to experience the focal reducers, with such delightful price benefit. Plus the image quality seems to be quite close to Metabones, for better or worse. I wonder do you have a showcase of your pictures / videos with Zhongyi somewhere to be seen, Flickr for example? Well, happy shooting! Have a good day now.

Or you could've just bought a canon ef to Fuji then adapted nikon and m42 lenses onto that ef to fuji speedbooster lol

The Dead Immortal: Yes, but there are reasons why some would prefer just the straight native more reliable mounting. Also, some just don't know about the possibilities. But i'm planning to do what you just mentioned. I just have so many different mounts. Either EF to m4/3 or EF to E-mount, or both, seeing how it turns out. I'd wish even a bit more slimmer focal reducers (assuming it's physically possible). Konica AR would be nice, but it's quite obsolete as a mount and thus adapters are also currently hard to come by. Still, it could be made relevant again through these wonderful new possibilities. Some added 4 millimeters would make a big difference in thicker, better adapters to M42, PK, OM, Nikon etc. Maybe one day. Probably not :)

I would buy a Konica to Fuji Speed Booster. I would love to adapt the old Konica lenses as they were meant to be shot.

Can u do this in reverse? Use a 4/3’s lens on an edge camera?
@FlyByFrancis5 жыл бұрын
Nope, the smaller 4/3 lens will not cover the bigger APSC / Full frame sensors

question. arent EF lenses focus by wire and note mechanical? wouldnt that render any adapter that isnt electronic useless with non manual lenses?
@subrussia17 жыл бұрын
EF Lenses lose the ability to auto-focus with this non-electronic adapters, but EF lenses have manual focus rings, so you just have to focus manually.
@Max-ej3vf7 жыл бұрын
Иван Тифанов yes I understand that but in the case of my 50mm 1.8. You need electric contacts to focus it manually

Wouldn't 2.8 to 1.4 be 2 stops of light not 1?

Not if you're factoring in the crop factor
