Thanks for this and the other vids, really really helpful!! One observation: after Rig fix for the feet IK is not working properly anymore, foot that should do IK goes to the floor even through collisions. Before the Rig fix no walking but ok IK :-)

Hi, I am very new to UE5, so far its amazing. I am watching this video, and when it comes to adding Ada's legs, feet, and torso, to 3rd person mesh, I do not get the same results. I had an issue where my characters hair was invisible when the camera was too far away, which meant it wasn't visible while playing the level. If anyone else gets this issue, you can fix it by going to the LODSync that got copypasted at 10:48, and search in the menu on the right: "Forced LOD", and change this value from -1 to 0. I assume this issue only happens with certain hairstyles on custom MetaHumans. Thanks for the tutorial.

I do not understand the question. Metahumans are created by a combination of Meshes and Groom hair.

good tutorial but i have one problem. The old standard character used to always place the feet on objects, now it doesnt do that anymore. I believe it has to do with the last change where the feet were glued to the ground because i think there are missing bones possibly?

Hey, thank you so much for this tutorial! I've been frustrated for a week trying to swap Manny with a Metahuman, and this helped me finally get it working! Unfortunately, after completing the steps in this video, the physics/cloth simulation have stopped working on the hoodie. My metahuman has the hoodie with strings. Any ideas?

This way of doing it will break your physics. A better way is to use the new "Compatible Skeletons" functionality, rather than swapping/assigning the skeletons.

I figured out how to fix the physics after doing it your way: remove the "Set Master Pose (Torso)" in the construction script, but only for metahumans with the hoodie.

Fantastic tutorial. I managed to retarget a Metahuman to the alsV4 system through IK Rigs/Retargeter. I have the same problem with the foot motion, the body moves and legs stay still. Unfortunately the Als AnimBP doesnt have a Control Rig to dig into. The problem resides in the Two Bone IK nodes inside the FootIK layer. Is there a certain configuration to make them move in this situation without breaking the IK?

Thanks for the great video , but my cloths of my custom metahuman are okay in the blueprint view and even when I set the Animation to Animation assets and pick the Running one just as you told and it was okay , but as soon as I hit the play , my charcter underwear and skin are glitching from the clothes and showing themselves and also hair do glitch too idk if it's the engine problem or my custom made metahuman or me (I also did an IK retargeting with a custom ABP but it's the same as this method)

Check your physics assets are setup correctly. Using the method in this tutorial may break them.

When I change the IK from pelvis to animation root the legs move and go up the big ramp but the character wont raise the leg at the end of the small ramp. Once the Capsule Component is off the ramp the character legs goes through the platform's static mesh. lol you didn't have your MH character run over the small ramp so I don't know if you had the same issue.

Hey buddy. I have gone through this multiple times with various Metahumans and various fresh projects. And im still having issues with everything other then the body mesh floating above and of axis to the the rest of the controller. Hello. The video is really simple, but my new metahuman character is not going right. In the video, the head was at floor level. I have the same problem, as well as the torso, shorts and shoes are higher than the character himself. In addition, they are rotated 90 degrees to the side. After the correction, the head was also rotated 90 degrees and attached to the torso. Do you have any ideas what could be wrong?

@@Jobutsu same problem for me, when a put torso leg and feet in mesh folder they don't move to the skeleton pose. Just stay on top with 90 degree rotation and don't follow the skeleton.

The "fix the foot motion" unfortunately breaks the IK completely.

Open up the stock retargeters and try retargeting. Look at the IKBones in the resulting animation. IKRetargeting of IKBones is broken in UE5

@@Jobutsu Yeah I found out your fix is basically just a more complicated way of disabling IK (which was causing the sticky feet issue). I found out you can retarget the Manequinn animations onto MH mesh and that way everything works out of the box, but I am not sure how much does that hurt performance. I probably don't understand IK well enough to fix this properly myself, though :)

Since I made this, UE5 ships with everything you need retarget correctly. I had planned to create a new version of this that, shows how simple it is now. I never did it though because, I am not a game dev.

Man 20 minutes to retarget a skeleton. There has to be an easier way. You can mesh to metahuman in 3 minutes. Which it sounds like it should take longer to do but it doesn’t.
