Something I saw in another comment thread - the outtro guitar section on High Water sounds like (is a representation of) drowning and being smashed against the rocks in the ocean. The longer notes in the riff are your chance you get to breathe as your head pops up above the waves. The rhythmic part is when you're being tossed around under the waves, battered against the rocks Then, the vocals come fading in, screaming, echoing, but... abrputly stop. Gives me chills every time. Worship!

I completely agree with Grayview. Marcus was new to IA and you could tell they weren’t quite sure where to go with him. The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was feels like the point where they figured out where to go with him, and Heavener was bringing the aspects in that EP out into various individual songs.

I discovered ST when Nik Nocturnal reacted to The Love You Want and he didn’t really like it. But I was so moved by it on first listen and pre ordered the vinyl right there. Personally, I found The Hollow like one of the most original albums of those years, most of the bands at the scene got the Atttack Attack!/Asking Alexandria type of Electronicore, and the way MMF mixes the instruments with synths and eletronic elements sounds pretty modern to me and still sounding like something that was release like 2 months ago or something like that (despite most of the modern bands made trap beats with emo stuff combining with no sense and a cohesive concept these days). But, my favorite album (tied with Remade In Misery, that was an strong comeback after 4 years with nothing new since Broken) is definitely Challenger, the tempo changes, Matty's falsettos, Kellen' riffs and Jake's drum fills are a masterclass of how to make a balanced metalcore album and still being iconic, and then Uncoditional was released and the southern metal vibes with Metalcore was a gift and hug to our hearts, lyrics are explicitly honest, and the remastered edition was on point of what the album was looking for. This Light I Hold and Broken were the Rock era of the band, the way they wanted to try rock stuff in an easier way to understand what's next for them, and with the passing time, some tracks hit the radio (so, it worked for them). Really thankful to those album for make them capable to mix Rock and Metalcore in a succesful way with songs like Misery, Make Believe, and Bleed Me Dry in Remade In Misery. You should check those materials having in mind what the album is trying to do for the listener and the result of it. And now MMF is on their PRIME era, and I hope this new album mixes a lot more heavy, rock, and experimental stuff, thinking out of the box, and that's how their are more closer to Metal's throne than ever before (even The Hollow itself), so excited tbh.

One of the reasons I didn't get super into Sleep Token until TMBTE singles started releasing was because on a first listen I wasn't huge into TPWBYT but since going back to it the album has become one of my favourites since I can really appreciate it for what it is and it tells a super cohesive story throughout the album, TMBTE and Sundowning probably have more individual bangers on them but as a full album TPWBYT flows the best for me

I love TWBYT, but Missing Limbs has always been a skip song for me. Saw it live and it was fine, but it's never been a song that's caught my attention and captivated me. People compare it (feeling wise) to Euclid, but I find Euclid to be such a better song musically, so much more interesting. I think the album suffers ending on such a forgettable song. It would have been better to end on High Water.

i honestly think if MMF weren't christian they wouldn't get haldfrhe "generic" flack that they do. Matty is a top tier vocalist, Kellen writes great riffs. Jake and Corey are an underrated rhtythm section. I do think they were better with a second guitarist....but all they'd have to do is go the Gideon route and everyone would love them lol.

Greyview definitely works better as a whole, if you have 53 minutes to listen, it creates such a great soundscape, even though it does blend together in the last half. Heavener does that AND each song can stand on its own, like you said. I can't remember the order of half the songs on greyview, but i could instantly tell you which song comes on when on heavener. 100% will admit i am a fanboy lol. Stillworld is still one of my happy places too.

Controversial opinion, I actually like the second half of tomb more. You hit the nail on the head about ST’s writing tendencies. Slow build into everything coming together for a bit then it ramps down into an outro. I feel like the second half had more diversity to it than the first half - 2/3 of the album (other than Fall for Me).

interesting!, love heavener, but I personally feel Greyview is more of a straight shooter, the guitar work is clear, the ambience sits above the riffs and acts more ornamentally rather than drowning it. If it makes sense, I was heavener obsessed when it was released, didn't listen to much else, difference is, I'm still jamming Greyview at least weekly now.

Heavener is nowhere near as technical and complex as Greyview. They watered their sound waaaay down for Heavener, which works and makes it more accessible (i still love it). But to compare it to Greyview compositionally is just... come on. Though, if Without A Whisper is your favorite Invent song, it makes sense in the context of your tastes.
