All I can really say is I have the rockerverb mkii and it just make me wanna play metal! lol I really play all kinds of styles.. not even all that heavy on the gain, but this amp just takes you to that metal zone heaven! Very versatile amp an fun to play but it just exceptionally exceeds at producing the most tight, yet saturated, raw in your face metal tones. Even more pronounced when tuned low as this video shows.

I agree that the JCM800 sounded thin, but keep in mind that it is several generations old -- not designed for the music played in the video. The Rockerverb and 6505 are early-mid 2000s designs.

An EVH 5150 iii is probably my go to when it comes to non-boutique Metal amps. It has the tight low-end of the Mesa Boogie Dual Recto without the high end fizz, the high-end bite of the Marshall without the non-existent bottom end and the mid-range growl of the Peavey 6505+. Loving the sound of that Redstuff amp as well. My ideal amp would probably be a Diezel or a Soldano though...

To me the biggest surprise was how similar the amps sounded really. Yes they all sounded a little different, but honestly I think that all of the amps sounded fairly good playing the same riffs. Any of them would have gotten the job done just fine in the studio or playing live. What matters more really is how it feels to the guitarist playing them. For example I use amp emulators all the time recording and can get tones very close to the real thing. But nothing quite feels like playing the real deal in terms of how an amp responds to a particular guitar and how it feels for your particular style of playing. A good tube amp should feel "alive" and respond to your playing. To me that is every bit as important as the tone if I'm going to plunk down big bucks on an amp.

I would really like to hear each mix with and without a bass guitar track. The Marshall sounds harsh by itself, but I bet it would be a lot more pleasing with a bass to balance it out. Also, I have a Peavey 5150 II, and it doesn’t come off as dark as the 6505+ does in these mixes. My 2¢
@jonbourn473

They are all good for different things. Orange is the most versatile, then mesa. Mesa is tightest. 6505 is the most brutal. Marshall is the weakest in this type of music because the low end is weak, but it's a good amp for rock. I use a 6505+, which is badass, but i would love to have a rockerverb 50.

Damn this video didn't help me. Really they're all great amps. To my ear the Redstuff's low stood out to me quite a bit awesome on he second riff of the medley. I personally like the sound of the Marshall but it is admittedly a bit shrill at some points. That high frequency content is probably a personal taste think for me from being such a big Megadeth fan. The Mesa and the Peavey were pretty similar tonal on the heavy stuff but I feel like I could hear more pick noise from the Peavey. Lastly I think someone already said it but yes the orange does sound organic but personally I don't like that almost non characteristic sound. For versatility in Heavy music I'd say the Mesa is the most well rounded in tone. That being said I still love that aggressive Marshall sound. Great video.

I have two favorite: Redstuff Minotaurus and what surprised me: my second favorite is the wost looking Orange Rockerverb 100 MK II. The Orange which is ugly but sounds such great wins in by that song 4:53 - 5:33.. Thought Marshall will sound better. Maybe JCM 800 Lead Series is not the best or the pedal Maxon OD808 Tubescreamer don''t likes him.. Too flat sound in my opinion.

also: you guys wanna try so more slowed down metal?? I mean, look at Timo Oser: dude, nobody's running at you! xD The most "honest" distorted sounds comes from not playing as fast as you can. You can "fake" and "hide" lots of mistakes by playing very fast palm mutes. Personal opinion.
