I know you guys know a lot more than me about the civil war but I just found out last night that Maryland was almost a confederate state. Wow, I'm a proud southerner but I would love to get up north to detect. The battle areas around here are few and far between and usually privately owned or state owned. Love watching you guys keep it coming.

That little star pin with the 1 in the center is a Boy Scouts 1 year membership pin. I hunted an old scout camp years ago and probably dug 50 of the things.

Two thoughts ... the CS could be for County Sheriff ....... but with the US not that likely. Bob's #1 pin in the star is used in Boy Scouts to represent # of years in certain areas, but I am not familiar with which ones

I found maps labeled U.S.C.S. = United States Coast Survey. The maps were from 1851 on. Probably not what you are looking for, especially with the type of pins.

The ring is a Victorian promise ring. I found a identical one at a colonial cellar hole in Ct. The stone in mine is a mine cut diamond, 14k and there is no hallmark on it. My girlfriend has been wearing it.

I have had my AT pro for 2 years now and I was going to upgrade. I was going to get the MAX. Should I just man up and buy the ATX? I’ve found two Morgan dimes at least 8+ inches with the pro... but now I’m wondering if I’m not getting deep enough on this property. Maybe there is more shiny deeper!!

The Pro will always be a great machine. The ATX is a beast but not for every site. It’s manly used for bad ground conditions. Highly mineralized ground. If you have a clean site, it will get greater depth than VFL. If it’s trashy or iron infested you will lose your mind.
