Month-and-a-half ago I bought the GPX 6000 and I love it. I've found gold from .08 at three inches and a 16.67 gram at 14 inches. I dug a 170g meteorite today at 16 in. Despite the threshold being a little inconsistent all of them were easily identified as a Target. Don't know what your settings are but mine are maximum sensitivity normal ground manual stock 11 in mono coil.

lose that 11” stock coil in the bin and get the 9” and 10x5” Goldhawk coils.

Yes it hits the hot rocks too! We usually scrape with a boot before even getting the pick out of the belt loop! Areas we hunt have so many hot rocks that the threshold probably wouldn’t stay stable even if the machine had a stable threshold. Coming from the SDC, usually set fairly hot, I don’t have much of an issue. Last out I ran the 6k in auto plus with threshold enabled. Talk about wavy threshold! But found a couple pinhead sized nuggets…if you want to find those, lol! Another thing we do in the trashy areas is drag a super magnet through our dirt pile-saves time!

I'll tell you what. All these guys talking about pinpointing with the gpx6000 need to go out with Owen. The way he showed me was awesome. I love that 6000 now the way Owen doese it is holds the coil at an angle and than come towards the target from each direction and boom he finds midst targets within 4 digs. Jack needs to invite Owen and myself out to his side of the desert or come out to Mayer. We need to get Owen a KZbin channel

Jack I've been told that you want your threshold to sound warbly...like a mosquito buzzing around your ear. If you have a steady solid threshold sound you will miss the smaller signals...also true for VLF gold detectors!
@randystreasureadventures
@randystreasureadventures Жыл бұрын
Hi Jack! Yes I’ve found the 6k is a bugger to pinpoint with because the coil is hot all the way around and to the edge! My next trip out I’m going to use a pin pointer. Not for finding the gold necessarily, because some nuggets are too small for it to hear, but just to speed up finding the crap targets that dominate the gold fields!

Hmm maybe it's the area your working because my 6000 has a smooth threshold and I cold hear anything so clear that why I bought one after the Axiom because my friends who had them were finding gold left and right out on Gold Eye Claim I couldn't get the Axiom to to run quiet enough to find anything. I have done alot more research since than and learned that you don't have to run the AXIOM on high sensitivity bring it down until it's quiet then do a noise cancel and ground balance twice if you have to. I sent my AXIOM back to garrett because I thought something was wrong and then learned I just need more time on it to learn all the extra settings. You should come out here and go out with us in Mayer Bigbug Claims I'd love to have you meet Owen he has showed me how to pinpoint with the gpx6000. After running the 6000 I'm going to sell the axiom not that it's a bad machine I just think the gpx is easier so have to sell one of them to pay off the credit card I put them on. If anyone is looking for a new Lightly used Axiom and then my way.

I was told that the earily 6000 has a ground problem and to send them in for repair. I talked to the repair place and they concerned it. So I’ll have to send it in. Yes the axiom has a learning curve. I’d love to come out and hunt with you all. Thanks

@Gold Fever Adventures & Treasure Hunting true ivw read about how the early released models were very noisy I have to say the one I just got is very smooth, first time out I found 4 tiny pieces of gold. I'll talk to Owen and maybe wait for Randy to find back out here to AZ and we'll all get together out here in Mayer or if you have a good place or near you, that would be fun I like it out there. Took a couple trips to quartzsite this winter and for some reason that place grows on you. Lol have a good weekend brother.

@@GoldFeverAdventures ~ You’re right, now I see the problems with the GPX 6000, it has an unsteady threshold that warbles up & down ‘and’ also a very slow swing speed slower than a snail. I wonder if the Garrett Axiom is better in those two areas.?
@rollandsaxton
@rollandsaxton Жыл бұрын
@Roy Johnson yes the AXIOM is better or can be better if you get used to the settings plus the Axiom still needs a software update to fix a few bugs but it's on its way to being up in the top 4 P.I. machines. I have both and out if the box the gpx6000 is more sensitive and and easier to use as its an auto machine and it's tuned specifically for gold I've found super small gold targets with both machines that weighed 1 grain or less. I'm selling my axiom I sent it back to garrett to get the plastic on the spare battery holder holder fixed and they checked to make sure it was tuned correctly and working 100%

@@rollandsaxton ~ Sorry, somehow I missed your reply, but it was a very good one, a good report, thank you. In the meantime I bought a new GPX 6000, I also ordered both the GPX 17 coil and NF Exceed 12x7 coil, spare batteries as well. I will try to figure out (learn) the settings now. Like you explained the 6000 is more sensitive and easier to use than the Axiom.

Hey Jack, those mixed signals? It wouldn't have anything to do with the pick in your other hand? Maybe picking up on the camera if it's close. Both might make it chatty.
