I never have a 'static' problem because I use 'electricians' tape. Tape comes off easily when replacing the coils 'skid plate' - the skid plates do wear out. Keep swinging. :)

That tape can cause a static charge like rubbing a balloon on your head and can affect your detector you should only be using cloth tap

I use Velcro for my coils Gold monster 1000

i use white. 3m tape. people tell me to put tape on the coil. you really have to look. have a good day.

Is your cats name 'Harvey'? Lol, couldn't you put a small plastic bag over it and then tape it around the connecting rod? Just a thought.

Yes, Harvey is a camera hog and loves getting in on the action. I've seen people using plastic bags but they tend to be prone to ripping when caught on sticks and rocks, not as effective as the insulating tape.

Instead of tape, is there a certain type of rubber sealant you could put around that little gap on any metal detector that would keep the moisture of water and sand out of it
