Hello again all you beautiful people👋🏻😁It is crazy how fast these weeks are going by, as usual I hope all you guys & gals are safe and happy and doing well. A lot of people keep asking for the Metal dust melt and even though I didn’t have much dust I thought I would still get it done👍🏻. I will do a slag melt soon as well. Now I’m working on some designs for merchandising and if anyone out there is a graphic designer or a great drawer and can think of a simple design that represents my channel feel free to email it to me on this email below and if I do go ahead and use the design I will be sure to send you a thank you gift. Now hopefully I’ll see you all again next week and I hope you have an awesome weekend , stay safe and take care👊🏻😃. bigstackddddd@mail.com

@smoker41883 жыл бұрын
@@erikblarg5498 is there a way to keep that from happening when you melt brass dust?
@erikblarg54983 жыл бұрын
@@smoker4188 When melting brass in general, The closest to getting perfect precision in your end product alloy, that you can get, is if you used a temperature controlled kiln to get the brass to the exact temperature you want, and then it just comes comes down to doing a lot of math to find out how much zinc you will lose, at said temperature, and how long it takes to reach temperature, how much surface area is exposed to the air also effects it, because the very surface of the metal will burn zinc slightly faster, but after a bunch of research on your equipment and a bunch of math you can just add that amount of zinc back into it, and stir it once the brass is molten. So honestly, if you need PRECISION down to milligrams or decimals of milligrams, then you're likely in an industrial environment because most people won't need that degree of precision. An industrial environment will have extremely precise equipment and people who have already done the zinc loss math that relates to their equipment setup. But yeah even in industrial work, adding zinc back to molten brass is pretty commonplace.
@smoker41883 жыл бұрын
@@erikblarg5498 that’s pretty cool, someone told me if you add borax to the top of the surface it’s less likely to burn up I’m not sure how true that is though lol
@erikblarg54983 жыл бұрын
@@smoker4188Yeaah, Borax is just a flux that helps impurities to the surface, at least in the case of melting aluminum, brass, copper, or other basic alloys. But, I would be irresponsible to claim that there is no metal alloy that is more likely to burn up without borax, because while I do know a good bit about metallurgy, there is still so much more that I still don't know about it, seeing as there is a near infinite combination of alloys that could be created.

I know pugs can't breathe because of breeding people have done to make them look a certain way which I actually agree is a terrible thing for people to do. I love how the brindle frenchie just vacuums his snacks, no chewing or nothing. Meanwhile his brother is a perfect gentleman

I’ve melted Zinc bars down myself, produced a lot of toxic gas, but very pretty to watch it burn in the bottom of a crucible. Definitely my favourite shade of green

I love your channel and it literally inspired me to buy my own Devil Forge furnace and start doing my own thing. I’d like to give a warning here, In my opinion you should always over stress the importance of safety gear. Three weeks ago I had an incident loading copper into my furnace where there was some residual refrigerant oil in a piece of tubing. When that oil hit the molten copper in my crucible it shot right into my eye blinding me in my right eye. I was fortunate that I was not disfigured but I bear the responsibility as I was not wearing Safety glasses. I think it’s really important that you stress and show people proper protective gear and how you keep yourself safe! Cheers to you, I love your channel and I love what you do
