Hello again all you beautiful people👋🏻😁It is crazy how fast these weeks are going by, as usual I hope all you guys & gals are safe and happy and doing well. A lot of people keep asking for the Metal dust melt and even though I didn’t have much dust I thought I would still get it done👍🏻. I will do a slag melt soon as well. Now I’m working on some designs for merchandising and if anyone out there is a graphic designer or a great drawer and can think of a simple design that represents my channel feel free to email it to me on this email below and if I do go ahead and use the design I will be sure to send you a thank you gift. Now hopefully I’ll see you all again next week and I hope you have an awesome weekend , stay safe and take care👊🏻😃. bigstackddddd@mail.com

@namoric

General rule from C to F - double the C temp and add 30. It'll get you close. Doesn't work well for negative temps, but most others does fine. Example: 20c becomes 40 + 30 = 70 Actual conversion comes in at 68 but pretty close for in the head conversions
@ThirdInLine
@ThirdInLine 3 жыл бұрын
@@namoric for general temps like room and warm outside temperatures, it’s better to go with double and add 25. The doubling creates a higher disparity the higher and lower you go, so the double and add 30 is good for typical cold temps.

@@erikblarg5498 is there a way to keep that from happening when you melt brass dust?
@erikblarg5498
@erikblarg5498 3 жыл бұрын
@@smoker4188 When melting brass in general, The closest to getting perfect precision in your end product alloy, that you can get, is if you used a temperature controlled kiln to get the brass to the exact temperature you want, and then it just comes comes down to doing a lot of math to find out how much zinc you will lose, at said temperature, and how long it takes to reach temperature, how much surface area is exposed to the air also effects it, because the very surface of the metal will burn zinc slightly faster, but after a bunch of research on your equipment and a bunch of math you can just add that amount of zinc back into it, and stir it once the brass is molten. So honestly, if you need PRECISION down to milligrams or decimals of milligrams, then you're likely in an industrial environment because most people won't need that degree of precision. An industrial environment will have extremely precise equipment and people who have already done the zinc loss math that relates to their equipment setup. But yeah even in industrial work, adding zinc back to molten brass is pretty commonplace.
@smoker4188
@smoker4188 3 жыл бұрын
@@erikblarg5498 that’s pretty cool, someone told me if you add borax to the top of the surface it’s less likely to burn up I’m not sure how true that is though lol
@erikblarg5498
@erikblarg5498 3 жыл бұрын
@@smoker4188Yeaah, Borax is just a flux that helps impurities to the surface, at least in the case of melting aluminum, brass, copper, or other basic alloys. But, I would be irresponsible to claim that there is no metal alloy that is more likely to burn up without borax, because while I do know a good bit about metallurgy, there is still so much more that I still don't know about it, seeing as there is a near infinite combination of alloys that could be created.

@@KM-hn8ce well we "cut off their balls" as you so pleasantly put it, to control population so there aren't strays everywhere (maybe it's not the best system but I don't know of a better 1) but the tails I don't know anything about. Do they cut frenchies tails off? I don't like that! There's no point to it and I see no reason to harm a puppy for aesthetic reasons! People used to do the same to rottweilers in the USA and my husband never had it done for his rotties! I know pugs can't breathe because of breeding people have done to make them look a certain way which I actually agree is a terrible thing for people to do. But frenchies don't appear to have a smushed up face like pugs, if they've done the same to them then yeah I disagree with the practice! But all that aside THESE 2 pups aren't to blame and ofc they are "sweethearts" ! Even if ALL of those things have been DONE TO them, how is it their fault and make them any less a good dog? All of that you bring up is PEOPLE'S fault not the dogs!

His first ever role, if I remember right. It was just at the end of his 'Markey Mark and the Funky Bunch' period as I recall. Good to see a hip-hop artist transition into a (decent!) mainstream acting career, he's honestly pretty damn good at acting, he was wasted doing Nsync and his solo act as Markey Mark.

Hm: bigstackD produces lots of sanding dust. Collects all sanding dust. Melts the dust to ingots. And sands the ingots, turning them into dust! As the bible said: dust to dust...

I'm imagining that is when he intends to end the channel. He still has a ways to go, especially if he keeps adding small increments each episode rather than the kilos you get from motor melts and such. And by then it will probably have run it's course.
@bigstackD
@bigstackD 3 жыл бұрын
There will be no end in sight that I can think of, one tonne is just a small goal I’m going for and after that I don’t know what I’ll do ? probably just keep adding to the stack and set another target but I don’t think I’ll ever stop the channel if it keeps building and going as strong as it is👌🏻😁. Plus if I stop the channel the 50 other copycat channels will try and take over🤔

Curios, how do you tell slag from metal that just hasn't melted yet?
@SportLairVids
@SportLairVids 3 жыл бұрын
because if all the metal is the same size in the same crucible at the same temperature then all of the metal melts at the same time so after a while of letting is sit he takes out what’s on top because that’s the slag
@DanielRichards644
@DanielRichards644 3 жыл бұрын
@@SportLairVids OK, but how do you know at what point all the metal has melted? Say like on many of his melts he keeps adding things to the crucible as things melt and create space for more stuff, is there like a set amount of time at a certain temperature that would guarantee it has all melted?

I love your channel and it literally inspired me to buy my own Devil Forge furnace and start doing my own thing. I’d like to give a warning here, In my opinion you should always over stress the importance of safety gear. Three weeks ago I had an incident loading copper into my furnace where there was some residual refrigerant oil in a piece of tubing. When that oil hit the molten copper in my crucible it shot right into my eye blinding me in my right eye. I was fortunate that I was not disfigured but I bear the responsibility as I was not wearing Safety glasses. I think it’s really important that you stress and show people proper protective gear and how you keep yourself safe! Cheers to you, I love your channel and I love what you do
