In this episode of MIDDLE AGED Metal Fan REACTS shotgunn can barely hold in his tears as the song moves him tremendously. Let's watch and listen to see how he handles this!
This song was SO tremendously depressing I could barely wait for it to be over. I do respect Billie as an artist. She surely gets the job done!!! If the 'job' creating a piece of music that traverses you into how she is feeling. I felt EXACTLY what she was feeling. Which means it's a GREAT song. HOWEVER, I HATE that feeling!
I sincerely hope she did not linger in this downtrodden place of foreboding depression. I hope that she has used her music as therapy, like SO many artist do.

Yes..this was Billie’s way of dealing with depression. Putting it in a song. There’s actual video of Billie’s mom talking to her about this song when they were writing it. It’s in her apple+ documentary. Her mother asks her “are you seriously implying that you would jump off the roof?” And “are you sure you want to get this dark with the song?” Billie responds by telling her that her writing/making the song is the reason she DOESN’T do it. It’s better to sing about it than actually do it. Have an outlet for your depression. She did go through a pretty rough spot when she was younger and she actually was suicidal. But she’s gotten past it and is EXTREMELY happy now. Has been for a while.

It feels like I am watching her grow up with her songs. Her newer songs such as myfuture shows that there's hope for her depression.

this was suppost to be her last song. there is a clip of her documentry with her making this w her brother and her mum asks 'do you really want to be saying stuff like this?' and she replys with 'id prefer to write about it then do it' (the jumping off part). her mother is the reason she is alive but we nearly lost her in a incedent in berlin.. she was being mentally abused by a 21-22 yr old who was basiclly grooming and using her. (she was 16/17.)

It is not tremendously depressing if the emotions swirling such dark thoughts are vented though song, art, or whatever. Billie's assuring that such thoughts pass through with no harm. Young women Billie's age recognize the relief after listening to her struggles. Far from depression, it has the opposite effect.

The feeling of this song, to me, is tremendously depressing. That is, when I listen to it… the prominent feeling that I feel is depression. I was in a good mood prior to listening. After listening, I felt very dark and down. Therefor, to me, this song IS tremendously depressing. I do see what you’re saying. I am glad to hear that she does in fact deal with her emotions through her music. Her thoughts and feelings were SO dark that it seemed to me to be a suicide note in song form. I can imagine this song feeling relatable to many young people struggling with some form of depression though. Personally, if I were in a dark place such as this (as I have been at times in my own life) I would never find peace in knowing that others have felt similarly. When I passed through dark places I would always try to acknowledge the feelings that I feel, but never latch onto things that might keep me there. This feeling in this song weighs me down. It does not lift me up. But that’s just me. That’s just my two cents. Thanks for your comment!

I didn't think it was "tremendously depressing" - but it could be for someone who is on the edge or who is desperate for happy feelings or is afraid of pain - the emotional irruption at 6:35 of this reaction where you say you can't listen to Adele - vulnerability can be tough - I wished that you hadn't followed that at 7:07 with "I'm going to kill myself - I'm just kidding".

Thank you for you comment. I appreciate your honesty. I assure my reaction/s were 100% genuine. I have a unique/disturbing ‘sense of humor’. I understand that many may not find what I said humorous. And that is fine with me. It’s funny to me. I’m sure some will agree with you and find my comment in poor taste. I’m also sure that some will agree with me and think that it was funny. It’s ok to have differences in perspective. I prefer the lighter hearted side of things. Not taking things too, too seriously. I’ve had times in my life where I struggled with depression. I use humor to deal with things. To help me go through things. Never to distract. It’s a fine line though. I think the extremes of both perspectives can be dangerous. For me, using humor to avoid or distract results in stagnation in emotional development. The other extreme, not allowing people to express themselves in a humorous (to them) sort of way because ‘some people might be offended’ is also unhealthy. Which also causes stagnation in emotional development. Enabling people to stay where they are. Because how ‘other people made them feel’. People choose to take offense at things. Offense is never given. It is always taken. So, to that I say… don’t take offense. Thank you for your comment.

@@shotgunndunn I figured before I saw your reply that with a nickname like "Shotgun", that might be indicative of your modus operandi - I don't take/didn't take offense, but your long rationale for your humor - in my mind - demonstrates that in fact you did take offense. Just think your nieces and nephews might have another 50 years to listen to your "humor" - there is no need to provide a rationale for it - I'm sure sometimes it's funny and other times it isn't.
