The reason your C4 doesn't damage Metal Gear every time is because you have to attack the legs in a specific order. Dr Madnar tells you the order if you rescue him.

This is a great guide on how to rush through the games but I prefer to play the games the way they were intended to be played, by taking it slow, sneaking around and being careful not to be detected as much as possible.

28:00 I seem to be stuck here. I'm class 4, I don't have a bunch of rations and ammo like you, but everything seems the same, including having max health, yet when I try to take the same path that you take, my health drops really quickly compared to your health in the video. Is there something I missed?

There may have been something else to it, I really dont remember, all I can remember is you make sure you're the same class so you have the same health, then you keep left so you exit the water quicker. Maybe you dont have it on the same difficulty and perhaps your oxygen/health depletes quicker on higher difficulties??

The cigarettes work in MG2 because the smoke appears when the wind changes to North. They explain it in the call you are getting at that part.

Metal Gear has a specific order for using Plastic Explosives. The order is R ,R ,L ,R ,L ,L ,R ,L ,L , R ,R ,L ,R ,L ,R , and R. That's why it's sometimes not damaged.

You have to hit the legs in a specific order, I didnt know at the time, guess I just keep hitting them until successful. Though if not respawning, are you not on Easy?
