Just did this video, thank you Opti! I look forward to MGS2. I did all the hard stuff on PS2 when I was a kid, all dog tags on every difficulty. I still have nightmares about fighting 22 Metal Gear Rays, hopefully you have a method that doesn't make me want to break my controller lmao

Great guide as always, not gonna watch the whole game since I played it like 40/50 times when I was a kid so I pretty much remember everything, if you play the "normal" version of the game, but in japanese, you can obtain the fox rank at normal difficulty, for anyone that's struggling in hard

Beat the UK version on hard with Fox today. Only ever finished the game on normal before so strategies were useful. Quite a bit longer on time, but still under the 3 hour limit. Play Time: 02:54:02 (thought I was doing comfortably until I got to the unskippable credits!) Save: 32 times Continue: 0 times Being Found: 3 times Enemies: 23 killed Rations: 1 used Special items obtained: Stealth / Camera No special items used (first hard run so none available). No section/boss skips. 3 extra kills than you mention: 1 on comms tower walkway with PSG1 to move the remaining 2 guards and make the stun grenade run easier 2 kills in underground base with guard outside PAL key room (did it without the equip/unequip glitch so pretty much had to kill him on the way out twice while inputting PAL (?) but not while going in as just crawled over the end noisy part) Still only one more than you somehow? Ensuring Meryl kills all the guards except for the 3 mandatory really helps here as I think it's somewhat random how many die during the escape. Doing a genuine hard gets me ready for MGS2 though :)

In doing the uk version and not the integral, any strategy in this guide that did not work? Cause of timing. Optinoob mentions 1 or 2 might not work because of it

@BrunoScheidecker I think that was maybe more a disclaimer on my end just in case. If enemies are in different locations in a few rooms, the strategies idea should still apply, you may just need to adapt it a little

Hey Opti. Think I"m going to give this one a go, but would consider doing a mostly blind playthrough, then use your guide to clean it up. I've read a bit about the bandana and stealth camo. Would getting the stealth camo on my first run help with following your guide, or should i get the bandana to save a bit of time for the elite trophy run?

Apparently the whole game can be done on easy if you mess about with the french or japan version. I've read that if you complete the jap version once, then simply start a new game, it pops the fox trophy for some reason. I forget exactly mate

@Optinooby i saw that but I planned on using your guide to cover all the miscellaneous and missable trophies. Doing a Japanese or French run would be a third playthrough wouldn't it? Unless you can switch languages.

@damcrac you could do blind on french then pop fox rank when you start the 2nd, then follow me taking your time for all the misc. No fox playthrough means mega easy platinum! You have a lot of ways to do it mate, my guides show legit way, but you could utilise those french or japan bugs to remove the fox playthrough!

I never saw any dev change a trophy requirement so it has to still be hard that's required. I have all trophys for the ps4 and the pc versions, I only did nightmare in the ps4 version and I'm pretty sure I already had platinum when I did

Opti, I’ve been going through the VR missions via the VR-Disc in the MGS: Integral menu, but now I’ve been reading that Practise Makes Perfect trophy will only unlock by playing the Special Missions at the game selection menu… did I fuck myself over?

No, I just unlocked them on the Integral VR Disc!! Think I got them all done in like 2 hours 30. But to unlock the Ninja Missions on the Integral VR disc, you must get highest rank on any story difficulty except for Very Easy

You don't have to play on hard difficulty to get the Fox/Big Boss rank. You can get it by playing it on Easy difficulty on the Japanese version.

Is even more easy if you select the first Metal Gear Solid game and select Japanese language. You play at Easy and you get the Fox trophy. Also, you have to save less than 30 times this is fact.

its supposedly 80 times, and its not fact, im fairly certain if you save 81 times and still fulfill all the requirements, will be Fox Rank still Where did you read it as fact?? Integral though has benefits the normal version doesnt, like ability to skip Liquid cutscene, and VR Missions at 60hz

The 80 saves is just a misconception, happens a lot with games guides The fact is that if you check the Official Master Book for the game on the Main Menu and go to the end pages, it tells you exactly what is required, and 80 saves isnt mentioned. Tbh, maybe tou right and not need saves at all, if you say you saw the book and bit mentioned there. However, is stupid for some reason all game these days become Dead Space 2 and required saves for the Highest difficulty. This is just annoying.

Cause after fox rank I intend to actually play the full game normally, watching every cutscene etc. So if I start a new game using the stealth camo or not, any difficulty, any ration, any alert and any time, I gain the bandana just by finishing the game after surviving the torture?

Am i too screwed for other boss fights by taking one hit from the ninja fight? Been at it for the last hour and the best i could beat him was with taking one hit from him and after the fight unfortunately my health wasn't fully restored. I hope the other fights will be easier coz this ninja took some getting used to.

Its fine to take a few hits mate, you get a little health back after each fight on Hard. You can use that 1 ration, but I like to save it for the end chase.

I just saw a video of a vent glitch that takes you from Meryls cell all the way to the tortue cutscene. Does anyone know if that glitch is worth doing? I know your health bar is tiny but does it affect anything like key cards etc? That skips 5 bosses

Apparently the game has a lot of flags to trigger certain stuff, like if you skip bosses, then you cant access certain weapons and such. So use 1 glitch, and you pretty much need to use a lot more. You could just do it legit on very easy with the Japan version
