Offender, All their stuff is good. But, that first album is a masterpiece. I wanna be somebody, BAD, Sleeping in the fire, Hellion, School Daze and especially On Your Knees and The Flame. In 1985, The Flame sounded more like AC⚡DC than AC/DC did. Still one of my favorite albums to this day. I have played it for many who never heard WASP and they were all knocked out. Seriously great hooky hard Rock & Roll. Blackie could sing his ass off too. I have an old VHS somewhere of WASP LIVE AT THE LYCEUM from '84. I only got to see them once. 1985 at the War Memorial Auditorium in Nashville. Tiny little auditorium. It was the only place that would book them. I had never been there before. It was a beautiful old (but tiny) theatre. They played at the same volume they would have played in an arena. It was insane. And insane loud. And they wore it out. Fantastic show. Stripped down stage for lack of room. But sounded great and just slammed.

Hails to Metal Mythos. Hails Razor-Rageaholic. This is one of my all time favorite Metal Mythos episodes you have done besides King Diamond, Dokken, and Yngwie Malmsteen. I started as a W.A.S.P. fan at 12 years old when the first album came out in 1984! But after about 3 more albums, I kind of lost touch with them since I love so many bands, but you brought me back to them with a vengeance! I recently re-bought their whole cd catalogue because of this documentary! I have been having a non stop W.A.S.P. fest for about a week straight listening to all of the rarities!!! I am a massive King Diamond freak too. That was a killer episode too! You are a true pleasure to watch brother and very informative too. Your Bathory episode was top notch too.

Fact is, as a guitar player, it was inevitable with learning stuff that I got into hair metal. George Lynch is mentioned by every guitar instructional book on metal worth their salt, as are many of the other players lumped in with that genre.

Spot on comments on Kerry King, broseph
@martinsexton35806 жыл бұрын
Being from the UK I admit that I only knew a couple of their songs as we have a lot of good Metal and Rock bands here (obviously some of the biggest ones such as Motorhead, Maiden, Sabbath and Priest. But also a fair few that were criminally underrated or overlooked elsewhere ). These metal mythos episodes are great for me, as it is usually the first time I'm hearing about these bands without the post 90s " hair metal " stigma prevelant in the UK ( alt and indie rock is huge over here). Keep up the good work exposing us to kick ass music mate.

WASP was pretty big in the UK back in the day. They made the cover of Kerrang quite a few times
@bossfan496 жыл бұрын
WASP had a lot going for them. Heavy sound, hard driving grooves, catchy hooks, underrated guitar work, but what impressed me the most was Blackie's vocals and the harmonies.
@greggwigen81964 жыл бұрын
It's true, Blackie's voice is possibly the most raw, most powerful in the history of Glam/Hair/Arena rock. (Take a listen to the title track from Headless Children. How he hits those notes and maintains that rasp...) But Holmes guitar really was something special. It's too bad they ended up parting ways.

The band that got me into metal as a kid. A hidden gem on The Last Command is the song Widowmaker. My absolute favorite WASP song of all time. Crushing riff once it gets fired up, and powerful lyrics make for a hidden epic. P.S. Great rant on the arrogant ramblings of that overhyped douchebag Kerry King. Slayer is great because of the incredible talents of every member not named Kerry King.

Marilyn Manson, once you get past the shock value there is nothing there. Like sugar, just empty calories with nothing to worth remembering. Just a vain, vacuous, empty "icon" with nothing iconic about him. Marilyn Manson wishes he could have the talent of Blackie Lawless.
@TheRageaholic6 жыл бұрын
Funny story: Manson is an actual W.A.S.P. fan. And apparently he invited them to play his birthday party in the K.F.D. era. W.A.S.P. blew him off. And shortly thereafter, did the thing with the Manson mannequin. Apparently, Blackie took it as a condescending insult. Knowing Manson, Blackie may have been right.

I saw Marilyn Manson open up for NIN during the Downward Spiral tour in 1994. Back then, I thought they were a halfassed mix between My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Ministry/NIN and Alien Sex Fiend with some Alice Cooper mannerisms thrown in. I didn't like it then, it was bland to me then, and is now. I understand people younger and even just a bit younger than me why they like it though.
@warbossgegguz6796 жыл бұрын
Manson and a ton of other industrial crap were what I thought was cool when I was, like, 12. And I guessing that's the case for a lot of his fans. As I got older though, you grow numb to it and you realize that these people actually have zero balls. Their a flash in the pan. Like KISS, only angry. Same goes for most thrash (and no offense but, to me, a lot of not most black metal and death metal) Thank God my Mom and Brother were both into classic rock and early metal, or else I might still be under the illusion.

I remember being about 10 years old, and buying the "last command" record.. absolutely awesome... I can still remember opening it up and finding the image of all their heads on pikes lol... at that age to me, that was the coolest image I'd ever seen lol... until about a year later when I ordered the ANIMAL single through a magazine lol.. The one with the Doberman on the cover... (the other with the cod piece is cool too) but there was just something about the cover with the dog on it ( I THINK it was the European version... can't remember for sure).

i still remember the day. i was 11 and mostly listening to techno and rap music. one day I accidentally heard let it roar track and as you guess, it turned me into a metalhead. yeah, it's funny to hear someones first impression to metal music be let it roar and he's not running away :D it's been 14 years of being metalhead and i still rank "unholy terror" in my top ten albums with albums from black sabbath and Iron maiden and other classic Gods + gojira(the only after 2000 metal band that does not suck). i really liked your video keep up the good work Love and Peace from Iran \m/

I remember Slayer getting booed offstage in the Bay Area when they showed up in the gayest spandex & makeup you've ever seen on the likes of Poison. Yes, it happened, before they got a helpful explanation from the likes of Paul "Poser Killer" Baloff on proper thrash attire (jeans and tshirts) via bare knuckled fists and thrown beer cans. Perhaps Kerry is getting Alzheimers in his old age. And Slayer is still my all time favorite band, but truth is truth.

Ghost Wolf: Nice. I just got back from "Killian on Command" benefit in SF, it was phenomenal. Hopefully Shawn pulls through, although he didn't look too hot tbh. But seeing all the classic lineups of Bay Area thrash cover Vio-lence songs was truly epic. They all did a great job...even Rob and Phil from Machinehead showed up to do a song with the original Violence lineup.
