@ericritchie67832 жыл бұрын
@@_beaker Indeed, let's see some live sets already. I do like many of his bass lines and he's a technically impressive player for SURE... But it's starting to get a bit samey after watching for a while now and I just can't agree when people say he's better than the likes of Victor Wooten. In terms of technical ability comparable but in terms of musicianship, not really, just not accomplished enough not seeing him play with enough other musicians.
@seanfitzpatrick78782 жыл бұрын
@@ericritchie6783 as amazing as he is, NO ONE is as good as Victor Wooten. Wooten's musicianship is second to none. I include guitar players in this assessment and I'm a guitar player. Charles has great and creative songs but if one scours Victor's recordings and live performances, one finds a level of creativity and versatility that's unsurpassed.
@ericritchie67832 жыл бұрын
@@seanfitzpatrick7878 I just think of a video I seen of Victor playing celtic folk type runs with a really brilliant celtic/folk style guitar player fur a whole live set doing all these call and response runs, just incredibly impressive. I'm sure Charles could sit there and work all the same runs out soon enough but he's just not doing that sort of thing live on the fly or playing live or collaborating with that calibre of musicians from what I'm seeing.
@varsityathlete99272 жыл бұрын
@@ericritchie6783 i agree its a bit samey, but i think this is the biggest problem for all technical players. i see it a lot with guitarists, as that is mostly what i watch. what he needs is to work with a zappa/miles davis type figure to take what he has and bring more out. every one that played with those two, came out a better musician. charles has the chops he just needs a band to take it somewhere new. or a band leader. i say this as a fan of charles, and a fan of many many similar musicians.

All that to say it's great for KZbin, but no this doesn't compare to a good studio recording. I could go on and on about the possibilities; orchestral arrangements with real orchestra, real plate reverbs, stunning sounding rooms, juicy tube amp tones, "real" studios are just on another level.

It sounds more like a late 80’s to early 90’s Amiga game than metal, but I’m not complaining they’re both awesome

I've watched a lot of REALLY short videos that stunk to high heaven. This video was not one of them. Bravo! Fantastic Slaying Of The Strings!

I honestly don't understand how Charles can keep track of what he's playing in all of these insanely fast and complicated pieces.

This song deserves a full single. Reminds me of Bruce Bouillet’s style. Ear candy.

The sound is really SICK! Out of this world yet has a bit of Arabic nuance.

Truly astonishing creativity! And the sound of this base, I believe it's a 12-string bass, is beyond belief!

Ngl, the other day I was watching one of your vids and for some reason a noticable pattern stood out to me in your fills and I was afraid I would never be able to get over it and enjoy your music with the same sense of awe again... This video has proven that my fears were unfounded. You completely broke away from that pattern I had noticed and brought all the magic back, making me appreciate you all the more. You are awesome!

Dude a 12 string bass. My lord. This sounds like The Human Abstract. You're seriously my favorite KZbinr. I've never been so inspired, AS A GUITARIST, to learn to play bass like you do. Amazing compositions and arrangements. Well done. Well fucking done.
