I agree, I like thrash a lot, I mean RIP by Megadeth is my all time favorite album, but in general I’m more fond to punk, and while slayer is my least favorite of the big four, Bad Brains is my fav hardcore band, and 2nd fav punk band, behind The Stooges

Bad Brains without a doubt. A lot of these metal bands, if not most of them, wouldn't around or the same as they are if it weren't for Bad Brains. Either they were influenced by them or influenced by bands that were influenced by them.

Bad Brains. I love Reign in Blood, but the self titled Bad Brains album is good enough to change lives. So many people are down with the message and the aggression. And the reggae songs are so good. I love this album so much. I have a T-shirt with the album cover and every time it gets too old and ratty I buy a new one.

I remember when Reign In Blood came out, my friends and I listened to both genres and I figured most people did the same until we went to see Slayer on their Reign In Blood tour and this was BEFORE the big venues as they played with Overkill in a skating rink. Anyway.. as I mentioned I didn't realize there was such a division between metalheads and punks at the time until we were waiting to get in and just listening to a variety comments from people. It still was an EXCELLENT show. Glad we got to see them in a small venue before things blew up.

Bad Brains were extremely influential on a lot of bands that I still listen to today. Slayer is cool but, my vote is for HR and Dr Know. Bands like Sublime, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, Living Color, Op Ivy ect wouldn’t be anywhere without them.

Slayer is fucking SLAYER. But the self titled Bad Brains album is the amalgamation of some of their best work. Bad brains as a band has one hell of a dedication to the craft and consciousness of music. Plus I also have a bias towards punk, but i love metal too.

Both but I've probably listened to bad brains more. Also keep in mind hardcore bands like Bad Brains were called thrash before any metal bands. Another cool thing Dave Lombardo played drums doing renditions of Bad Brains tunes with Norwood ( fish bone) Spacey T ( Spound barrier etc) Joseph I ( Bad brains/ fiya burn )

TBH Bad Brains might be the best punk band EVER. They are literally the first all black HARDCORE punk/Alternative metal band EVER. That Bad Brains album is TOO GOOD. I love Banned in D.C. and Right Brigade SO MUCH!!

Definitely bad brains. Slayer doesn’t have nearly as much variety in their music. They’re pretty much a straight up thrash band with horror elements. Bad brains are either straight up hardcore punk or pure roots reggae. There really isn’t much in between but the fact that they can be belting out some of the most insane and energetic punk one song and play a slow, very authentic reggae song is mind boggling. Bad brains are very much a reggae band and HR actually has a really great and soulful singing voice on the reggae songs. It’s almost schizophrenic how easily they can switch genres. Dave Lombardo is, in my opinion the most talented member of slayer and he’s one of the greatest metal drummers of all time but on the whole, bad brains are just so much more talented as a band. They started out as a jazz fusion band of all things, which takes a lot of talent. It proves that they have a huge breadth of genres and music styles that they’re capable of playing.
