No clue what's going on with me, but I don't like the record at all. I LOVED Monarchy, but there's no connection for me on the new one. Not sure what happened.
@larkfellon6 жыл бұрын
A B This album deviates from that last 10 years post-scene hardcore/tech death and goes deeper into a prog/tech death along the lines of Beyond Creation. It’s also a much sadder album. Monarch had an emotional feeling or rising up and overcoming. This one is way more dramatic and depressive. Emotionally it’s closer to My Dying Bride where Monarch feels more BDM

BTBAM never got rid of the "death growls", they just made them subservient to the harsher vocals rather than the other way around. But there is still climactic parts with harsh vocals like the "curve the spectrum" part in King Redeem.

Totally agree with Sarah in this one. If someone don't like certain band or genre, it is totally acceptable, but, don't throw a negative review because you do not like it. Otherwise, if you are not impartial, maybe should not throw a "rating" since you're being influenced by your personal music taste. Don't get me wrong, Brad is cool, but i just think that he let's his personal taste take over the music itself sometimes. Cheers!

Ok, so maybe someone can clarify for me. When talking about Tribulation, Sarah mentions that they are like the Italian doom metal band The Black. All I could think of is the swedish black metal band by that name, which I hadn't thought about in some time (killer album). Personally think Life in Velvet is the best song on the album, also the best closer they've ever written. But yeah, growls are there, people probably heard Node and the start of The Coma Machine and immediately wrote the album off as weak without listening properly.

Brad: Why are you saying BTBAM ditched their Death Growls on the previous album? The single The Coma Machine has them in the verse and the album itself has plenty. Not as much as before though of course. I think this 'album' is pretty good, but it is a bit weird they only released half. Pretty sure its a marketing strategy from Sumerian to sell more. It doesn't do the song justice especially since most of their work is well over an hour long and really works well as a whole. It did leave me wanting for more though, but I think it would've done the album more justice if it was just released as a whole. I hardly doubt BTBAM really wanted to make a 'double album' given that this 'double album' is basically the same length as all their albums before.
@AggressiveTendencies6 жыл бұрын
Good point on it being a marketing strategy. Interesting idea! I mean, sure they didn't ENTIRELY ditch it, but essentially given the majority of their sound this felt like it was ditched.
@flagmuffin12216 жыл бұрын
It's the way bands are and should be moving forward from a business perspective. More regular releases over the years than one album dump every 2 or 3 years is much smarter money wise. Plini already does it. I don't want to see albums die out, then we lose bands like BTBAM and their amazing long albums. But we can't condemn them for moving forward in a business sense, if that's what the purpose of it was.
