Thankyou for reviewing Ne Obliviscaris. They're an Aussie band who have put a hell of a lot of work into their music and it's paying off. I saw them a few years ago after their 2nd album release and they blew me away. My only gripe is Tim's solo violin sometimes needs to be tamed or double tracked to smooth it out and not be a ice pick in the ear. Well done Banger!!

I really like your reviews, but I feel the skull grading really suffers from the error of central tendency. If you say something is hard to listen through even once, it seems that it should be getting a rating somewhere below 2.5, and that an album that has no fault found at all, should be getting a 5. I notice that the majority of reviews get between a 3 and a 4. Overall I enjoy the reviews, but don't be afraid to sling mud or praise in public when it comes down to the end.

@Jason-de5pl7 жыл бұрын
ikashibimauler but how would his father hide behind an army?
@ikashibimauler7 жыл бұрын
So the Matriarch sends the Immortal to go and collect her 4 Sons for a sacrifice. One of the sons is a general over 10,000 soldiers. He basically makes the immortal fight his way through 10,000 men to get to him. I like to think that this general son of the Matriarch is the General of the Dark Army. Also the character that hid behind an army is the same guy that gets sliced up in the Cleanse the Bloodlines video.

Power Trip is fantastic. I'd love to hear Sam's thought's on the band, given his thrash obsessions. Also, I really think this two-person review format is kind of working here. @petecanthropus99477 жыл бұрын
Fantano not only "works his ass off". He's intelligent, analytical, learned, trustworthy, inquisitive, has a deep insight and explains himself with humor and clarity, trying to give his best reasons to base his statements, contextualizing the artists/albums he talks about, etc. etc. That's why so many idiots hate him - it's called envy. They try to discredit his opinions by calling him pretentious or pseudo-intellectual, or making jokes about his physical appearance,etc. and all those typical "ad hominem" arguments, the usual one and only resource of the proudly ignorant arrogants. There's a lot to learn from him, even when obviously nobody can agree with his opinions (nor anybody's else) always. Phew ! I had to say it ! P.D. I recommend you to listen an album called "Tarkus" (1971, if I'm not wrong), by a very obscure band called Emerson Lake and Palmer: they mention the Manticore there, and there's even an illustration :)
@MK-oz2lf7 жыл бұрын

Important albums in 2017 are 'The Symbol of Death' by DISBELIEF and 'Dark Towers / Bright Lights' by CRANIAL. 'The Symbol of Death' is the mightiest Death Metal release this year. 'Dark Towers/ Bright Lights' is a mighty Death Doom release by the musicians of the former cult band OMEGA MASSIF. The next big thing will be the release of the new SOLSTICE album 'White Horse Hill' (3 songs of this album can already be checked on the demo tape called 'To Sol a Thane').

I'd like to see more reviews like this. Two of you doing a group of new records. It would alleviate the 'Albums We Missed' thing for the most part. Just a suggestion. Oh, and thanks for turning me on to Power Trip(don't know how I missed them).

Surprised I didn't see that new Igorrr album. Check out Cheval if you haven't yet. Savage Sinusoid is definitely in my top 5 this year.

Elder is my album of the year so far - and I come from a death/black metal background. So surprised at the narrow focus of the reviewers

Good list, though I was really hoping to see Warbringer's Woe to the Vanquished as well. Another great modern thrash gem that strays away from the "party thrash" movement and further hones their sound complete with great themes, lyrics, riffs, and song writing.

Off the top of my head, reviews with score that low: Suicide Silence, All That Remains, Vader...not sure what else off the top of my head.
