It's been a while. In 2006 was the first time I'd finally see one of my favourite metal bands live. The bouncer that the door in Dublin, Ireland asked if I was even into this type of music because I was wearing a blue buttoned up shirt (coming from work), but another one pointed out that I was also wearing an Ensiferum t-shirt on top of it. So I got in. One of the most memorable experiences of my life. I used to listen to Enska ALL THE TIME. Not sure what happened during the past decade but I didn't listen to it anymore. Now I'm back, I have tears in my eyes how good this is.

I'm on the fence about this. Generally speaking I don't like cleans in my metal. That being said there are plenty of metal acts that use cleans that I do genuinely enjoy. However if I'm listening to a band specifically for the dirties, I'll be rightly pissed if they use cleans. Basically I want my Manowar to be Manowar and my Carach Angren to be Carach Angren. I don't like it when bands switch up for more attention. I understand money but damn, it just feels like they're selling out at that point(cuz they are)

I've seen this. Classic British Heavy Metal, Power Metal, most Folk Metal, Symphonic Metal, Doom Metal, and Progressive Metal use pretty clean vocals for the most part. The Middle range vocal style (raspy yelling, or harsh ish) is probably Groove, Thrash, Metalcore, etc. And then you have extreme metal (death metal, black metal, etc). But usually if you like one metal genre you end up liking all of them with time. A way to get into harsh vocals are to listen to bands that use harsh and clean vocals or just middle-range raspy thrash vocals.

@Samael Well until now I am the happiest man in the world - because if it is so as you say, then they hit me right in the 10 mark. My world will turn into darkness if there is no more the Ensiferum I know. Yes, I also like @jordan s hope the day will never come.

Spoiler alert come on! Just kidding, I shouldn't have been reading comments before finishing the album. It's my fault... Cheers from France! 🍻 *Edit* I agree, great album. Not enough blast beats imo, but still a good record. Now imma listen to the first two Vainamoinen parts! Old Man is the first Ensiferum song I learned on the guitar.

Really digging the album. Not sure the time period thematically they are going for but for reference rum originated in the West Indies and is first mentioned in records from Barbados in about 1650. The drink of pirates. Cheers!
