It's been a while. In 2006 was the first time I'd finally see one of my favourite metal bands live. The bouncer that the door in Dublin, Ireland asked if I was even into this type of music because I was wearing a blue buttoned up shirt (coming from work), but another one pointed out that I was also wearing an Ensiferum t-shirt on top of it. So I got in. One of the most memorable experiences of my life. I used to listen to Enska ALL THE TIME. Not sure what happened during the past decade but I didn't listen to it anymore. Now I'm back, I have tears in my eyes how good this is.

I'm on the fence about this. Generally speaking I don't like cleans in my metal. That being said there are plenty of metal acts that use cleans that I do genuinely enjoy. However if I'm listening to a band specifically for the dirties, I'll be rightly pissed if they use cleans. Basically I want my Manowar to be Manowar and my Carach Angren to be Carach Angren. I don't like it when bands switch up for more attention. I understand money but damn, it just feels like they're selling out at that point(cuz they are)

number 1 reason why i fell in love with ensiferum is their folk melodic metal. absolutely genius and might i say i haven't found any other band that does it like them. Theres wintersun and korpiklaani, but none of them manages to balance metal and folk so perfectly. Songs like heathen throne, vainamoinen part 3, longest journey are absolute killers.

@@jamescourt4703 You're welcome mate! I'm halfway through the album just now (yeah, when I commented I only launched the video to save it and I saw your comment), and I like this new clean singer. It brings back some aspects that makes me love their first two albums way more than the rest of their works. Their previous guitarist/singer was amazing and I still love his work. I've seen this. Classic British Heavy Metal, Power Metal, most Folk Metal, Symphonic Metal, Doom Metal, and Progressive Metal use pretty clean vocals for the most part. The Middle range vocal style (raspy yelling, or harsh ish) is probably Groove, Thrash, Metalcore, etc. And then you have extreme metal (death metal, black metal, etc). But usually if you like one metal genre you end up liking all of them with time. A way to get into harsh vocals are to listen to bands that use harsh and clean vocals or just middle-range raspy thrash vocals.

It took me a while to finally listen to this album. It's amazing. I think it's their best work since Victory Songs, and the best-produced and mixed ever. The flexibility allowed by Pekka adds a lot, and some songs like Run from the Crushing Tide or One with the Sea reach this pathos that is utter epicness. Also, finally a metal band after the 2010s who realised you don't have to wreck everybody's balls with 1h+ album. Good old intense 40-50 minutes with no fillers are perfection.

I was so glad the first time I listened to this album. It sounds fresh. It sounds new. But at the same time, when you listen to it, you recognize it's Ensiferum. This is an excellent album, that's true to it's roots, doesn't sound repetitive but different, yet conserving it's soul. Every song is memorable, with an armonic contrast between harsh and clean voice and the great melody that characterize them.
