Just to let you know Metal, commandeering only requires that the radiation/air leaks be contained to certain rooms. What you are thinking of might be that you cannot commandeer ships with airlocks that break open.

I know it's 4 years after, but I can't help but notice, the ship mentioned 2 infestation type. the bots and leaper makes 2 types, why would the Swarm be present? that would've made 3 types.

That's the introduction sector. It always has those ships with those layouts. It's to ease you into the game and teach you the basics. But yes, ships with turrets are awesome and make it much easier to clear.

7:20 personally i find slime to be the most horrible, simply cause its silent, damn near undetectable, and can attack you from LITERALLY ANYWHERE, and is green..... >-> and cause of 10 damage per second....and causes a drone to slow down to a crawl. slime sucks.

I think that the condition is that less than a certain number of rooms have to be flooded with radiation, I think if the computer suggests you take it then it means you can

The suggestion to commandeer is just part of the tutorial. Unless the mechanics have changed from early access, a ship has to be both free of all enemies as well as of radiation. Otherwise commandeering is impossible.

I've managed to commandeer a ship with a radiation leak (A pipe suddenly ruptured and flooded 3 rooms before I managed to get the doors shut) However, after containing the leak I was still able to take it over.

Ummm... Only two infestation types detected before entering the ship, and you encountered both of them. So there would be no chance of swarms...

I'm not entirely sure whether swarms follow that rule or not. Vent can spawn them (and they can use them to travel around the ship where vents are present, although that feature wasn't implemented in early access) and I'd rather be careful than not.

(i know this comment thread is 10 months old but...) Swarm only spawn if they are an infestation type, if you have say....slime and patrol drones, but there are vents in the level, swarm won't spawn. (since technically they aren't even on the ship to begin with.) but if there's swarm as an infestation type, and there are vents on the level then they will spawn.

cant your tow enemies or move them somehow to clear doors?

Nope, only works on disabled drones. The only way to really clear a dead enemy is to blow them out through an airlock.

I tried to play the game and decided that I don't like. Just doesn't FEEL right for me. But that's just me, but I also never have seen MC play a game that partly FPS and partly strategy.

I've had my eye on that game for a while in the past. But, after poor reviews, decided not to get it.

Yeah I understand, in its early stages the game was unplayable because of bugs and the storyline/voice acting is pretty cringe-worthy in a lot of places. A lot of the bad reviews were because a lot of the fans felt betrayed after all the hype. The last version before they stopped updating it was pretty stable and I had fun playing through it, though. It's a "relaxing" kind of game where you spend a lot of time doing inventory management and planning while you let your AIs do the work. Thought it might be a nice fit for your style of commentary. A game worth considering if you're looking for something new, though. It's kind of too bad that they stopped developing it because there's nothing else like it out there.

4IN14094 I wasn't sure what you meant... Do you mean we're forgetting to check for logs left behind by survivors? If so, the logs work like this - every time you dock at a derelict, you might uncover a part of the story or some unrelated fluff. You can not miss anything as even if I were to close the log by mistake, it all gets deposited into the objectives archives we can always read.
