Yes he missed the G7, readjusted and hit the D8 instead. Personally I think what he composes for himself far surpasses what others compose for him and I know you prefer live performances but his music video for The Story of One Sky has to be seen to appreciate all he's capable of considering he wrote both the music, the screenplay and acted the main character in it.

in interviews when asked if the D8 was on purpose & Dimash said he missed the note before as he moved up to a D6 or D7 & then adjusted & the D8 happened & now it's history - I don't know if this is true but a lot of voice experts claim it's highest note ever sung live...... Dimash is remarkable even when he makes an error.....

When he was very young, he wanted to sing songs that his teachers told him he was too young to express the feeling of the song because he needed the life experience. Dimash proved them wrong. He is very mature when it comes to express feelings. Perhaps, because he has read many poetry, and philosophical books, he could connect with the writers feelings. Dimash is very unique. He has been brought up by his Grandma and Grandad, as is the case in much of Kazakhstan when they move in and raise the first son of their son, whilst his mum was still studying music/arts and she and his dad were involved in the arts education, and singing on stage. Svetlana is an operatic high soprano with staccato and Kanat is more ethnic sounding. So Dimash was raised in a beautiful loving family setting, in a perfect environment as Kazakhstan supports the arts and education very much, since their independence from the USSR. Kazakhstan is on the Great Steppe, very beautiful but quite violent history, with Russian Mongolian Turkic Baltic Genghis Khan Moslem Christian and other cultures all mixed in….so very ethnic, but very rich in rare earth minerals and oil and gas, and a population of about 18 million. Great stretches of rolling plains and beautiful mountains with exotic wildlife, horses, ect. Gakku is an event company, so this concert was part of a fete with about 140,000 people attending, and I think Dimash flew in from his work in China for it, and his local fame turning international was just being recognized. So this was possibly like a homecoming event for him, but there would have been other artists as well. In Astana, I think, the new capital. Dimash appears to have attempted to sing his usual D7, but when it never happened, he just continued up to the slide into the D8 on the spur of the moment. A very good and intricate recovery. I wonder if he knew he could do that? It seems his talents are ever expanding through his amazing focus and personal disciplines in training and practice. Like a crazy scientist explores and stumbles onto new theories, Dimash does something similar in music. Dimash and his dad wrote and composed this when he was 15 years old, and it is sung in most of his concerts a bit differently each time.

I really love your reactions❤. Dimash wrote this song when he was 16 or 17 years old and the lyrics were written by Oral Baissengir, of course in Kazakh. This performance was in Kazakhstan (Gakku TV is a Kazakh television channel. I heard there were about 150,000 spectators and the city center had to be completely closed). There he hit his highest note so far, his famous D8. You don't need to look for this note on the piano, the keys weren't enough for that anymore. Some say the tone isn't exactly pleasing to the ear, but it doesn't make it any less spectacular. Incidentally, Dimash himself said that this was not actually intended. He probably wanted to sing his "normal" G#7, but when he did, no sound came out of his throat. When he started again, the C8 came and then the D8. A 5 second accident with vibrato😂. Only Dimash can do this. And then he continues as nothing has happened. All the singers invited to this show are already well-known artists in China who have already won awards. Dimash was invited as the first foreigner as a wild card and the youngest in the history of this show. They became aware of him because he had already won some important competitions in Kazakhstan and Belarus, among others. He was still completely unknown in China. Actually, it was intended that he would only have 1 or 2 appearances. But it came completely different. When he woke up the next morning after his first performance of SOS he was a megastar in China and even found bodyguards outside his hotel room. SOS’ first video had 600 million views when it aired. He was just 22 years old at the time. I highly recommend the 6th performance Adagio. There he also plays the piano. It speaks for itself that this performance leads to such emotions as that even makes jury members cry. This is so emotional because he literally sang for survival as he was almost voted out on the last episode on Uptown Funk. That's why he had to give everything at Adagio. But please try not to stop the video too often. Especially in the end of the song. Otherwise you might lose the flow. I love his outfit with his blue suit and white shoes. If you watch several videos of him, you will see that he often falls on his knees during many of his performances. So a Dear gave him knee pads as a gift. I don’t think he wore them on stage though. If we check other versions that Dimash sings of this song (which he wrote when he was younger), we can see a melisma or other very beautiful variations in this part of the "whistle". Here, singing on an open stage and with some discomfort in the return (we can see it several times by adjusting the headphones) we realize, in this specific part of the song, that he is going to do something and, not being able to do what he would like (Perhaps the interference from the audience or the inaccurate response of the sound, a fact that impaired his concentration), then he issued this wonderful and historic C#8 modulated to D8, with vibrato! In a more technical analysis, we can see that the notes sound dissonant, as they do not belong to the harmonic field of the tonality of the music. Still, it's a demo of technique! He must have instantly thought: "Since I couldn't do what I wanted, I'll improvise!" So he emitted the inconceivable and supernatural D8 (4698.64 Hz)! He was at a D6 & went for his usual slide up to a D7 which he normally hits effortlessly but as you correctly pointed out he missed the note..... Dimash then adjusted & the D8 happened by accident.... this is Dimash's own description in several interviews & he never makes a big deal about it..... the Producers of the Chinese Singer competition claim he sang as a high as G8 in rehearsals..... his range is crazy & his technical ability is unmatched but it's his ability to connect w/ the audience & emote are what sets him apart & make him a legend - that audience is 150,000 people & if you pick out their individual faces every one of them believe Dimash is singing only to them...... a generational talent & as your brilliantly described - an old soul

Помню я в тот день, как узнала о концерте, отправилась и пошла( также следом и ушли мои коллеги и мы все встретились на концерте. Этот день действительно был незабываемым. Я впервые его слушала в живую и в этом году году он получил всемирную славу, ему на этот период было всего 22 года. Whether or not he is on track is not something we're privvy to. To finish a PhD by the end of this year would be extremely fast. What is the rush anyway? Dimash is definitely an old soul. ❤ The first time I heard this song on Singer 2017 (no subtitles), I ended up with tears streaming down my face and my body shaking uncontrollably. That was the day I decided that I could no longer be content to be "just a fan", that I would do everything I could do to support and promote him. 6 years later, the feeling has only become stronger. Dimash changes up this song every time he sings it. I also highly recommend you watch the Singer 2017 performance and the Dimash Digital Show performance (labeled Umytylmas Kun).
