In Italy we have a long tradition of modern singer-songwriters and poetic ballads. Maneskin learnt how to unify this tradition with a genuine rock . The outcome is deep texts with amazing music.

Yes. Well, I'm a 55-year-old woman, and I have to use beta-blockers when I listen to their songs. ☺The gift of poetry is a blessing from God. Their poetry goes metaphysics, into experiences from previous lives. This young man, his introspection, facial expression, full body speech, voice, emotion ... no, he is 1000 years old ... As a woman and as a mother, I can only pray: God, let these young people live to be 27, 33, 50, 60 ... don't let them burn in their own fire. God bless them. I was born to Serbia, my English is not good, I used google translation, but I think you will understand my immense love for these young people ... thank them

This song is about the fleeting nature of inspiration. The "woman" they are talking about is Marlene, their muse personified, and they sing about her in several songs, including Torna a Casa. In this case, he is reminiscing about how she comes and goes as she pleases. The video is really well made, you should watch it in conjunction with knowing the lyrics, it turns from metaphoric to literal. Greetings from Portugal!

Maneskin isn't my type of music generally, but even I absolutely see the excellence the band is. Damiano sings so well, and the lyrics are indeed very deep and really mean something. How I wish lyrics really became a big priority for English speaking singers in the more widely consumed genres.

I enjoy so much the way you enjoy this music! It's super, super nice to hear people who don't speak Italian really feel it, especially since in Europe we are so used to Americans saying NO to everything that is not in English. And if they make it it will be such a great sign of how amazing they are and how good music transcendents. PS: I am not even Italian, but I speak the language and it is just super, super, super nice to hear Italian music make it on the world stage. Thank you!

@Marcellogo3 жыл бұрын
They always insist on them being all involved in it. Lyrics are credited by all of them and Damiano David or better David Damiano (he sign it incorrectly on purpouse, I think) is always the last one name.
@casgiatina3 жыл бұрын
When someone sings with their whole heart like Damiano does, you don't need to understand the lyrics because he's going to make you feel it and convey the meaning of the song anyway. Dimash does the same thing (albeit in a different way). Even so, translations can help you understand what the lyrics mean. But it's not the same as understanding them as they were written. In the original language they just hit different, you know? The translated version is like someone stole a couple of colours out of the rainbow - there's just something missing. So, if you have the time, it really is worth learning some Italian to fully appreciate Måneskin in all their technicolour glory. 😊🌈

One of the best aspects of Eurovision is that even if a competitor doesn't win, it gives them the best exposure they could ever hope to get. From an Maneskin interview "Marlena " is like their muse : Marlena is us, the Måneskin, is our message of freedom, of life. It is the Venus of the group, the personification of our freedom, creativity, life. Do you know that Maneskin is the Danish word moonlight shadow ( 'cause Victoria has Danish origins)
@stacyfeldmann44893 жыл бұрын
From the interviews from this band they write songs together and a lot of their new stuff was written isolated from each other given lockdown Italy. They all agree to the use of their imaginary muse Marlene ..so that tells me it is a tool for all of them to use to channel their songs together. Also having researched them the bassist and guitarist are the ones who started it off and then found the lead singer. But they lived together for their first album and have developed this relationship with each other they say is stronger than being siblings. It feels like that unit means they will be super great.

I started with zitti & buoni after eurovision, the rock the look, then discovered the lyrics even more amazing, finally an interview of Damiano. That's the most ficking focking part of all the story. Who he is, what he thinks. God. He could be Master in Meditation. Far more mature than me at 61. Well intentioned, feeling he MUST share his gifts with as many people as possible. He strongly wants to make better each time. The need to play the annoying part of big brother to keep the other three puppies within the rules of respect and professionality. Gosh all that of a man who a few years ago was gathering coins in the street. You should watch when they play together in 2016. Truly kids, little ones and already so damned talented. Some sort of drug they are.

As a general useful rule for english speakers: most languages around the world, other than English, has the same pronunciation for the vowels: A like mAmA, E like mEn or fathEr (depending on the word/language), I like bIt or bEEn (depending on the word/language), O like cOre, U like mOOn or pUt (depending on the word/language). If you read a word in most non-English languages, 90% of the times these are the pronunciations for the vowels: the vowel shift was only an English thing. There are exceptions of course (most relevantly the french combinations of vowels), and local specificities, but the probability of getting the pronunciation in the ballpark is very high.

The interesting thing about Måneskin's first album 'IL BALLO DELLA VITA' Is that the Marlena you can hear about in the Song it's not a persone actually, it's their muse, Who inspires them. The album it's about the fact that they are losing their Ideas and love about music, but they are aware of the fact that they have ti abandon 'Marlena', to find a new Muse so they can go on.

In this song, the theme of lack of inspiration returns. Marlena, Damiano's muse("she is present in another 5 songs maybe) is far away and he feel the pain and fear that" she" won't come back. However you are the best. I love your reactions. Love from Italy.🇮🇹

Hey man, I'm a rock fan from Italy, it's funny how you mirror myself when I didn't speak English, before learning I butchered every word but I was so curious and loved every new song I listened to :D your open mind about music is quite admirable, there are a lot of people out there who miss a lot of amazing music because of the language barrier. Anyway if you are interested there are a lot of historical Italian rock, alternative and metal bands you could listen to, like Litfiba, Premiata Forneria Marconi, Area, Banca del mutuo soccorso, New Trolls (their song Concerto Grosso is amazing imo), Raphsody of Fire, Goblin, Afterhours, Lacuna Coil, Fleshgod Apocalypse, Rossofuoco.
