I'm Swedish but I still find their Italian lyrics better than their english ones even if they are all great! Of course his "mother tounge" sits better with him in some way when he sings but it's also much more descriptive and telling in so many more ways.

As an Italian native speaker I think it's pretty cool when a singer can use both Italian and English to take advantage of two ways to express himself and different sonorities. Furthermore having also songs in English can be a way to draw attention to Italian lyrics too. Let's hope that the band will continue on this bilingual path. Having half of the songs in English is enough to make it to the international market. Damiano's poetic abilities in Italian must be exploited. After all, only Italian authors can write in Italian, with rare foreign exceptions.

Thank you, Zach, I had never heard this live version of Le parole lontane, and it's really appreciable for a lot of reasons. I think you got it right when you said that this song would not be the same if sung in English; that is actually true from most poetry, let alone musical poetry (songs). The fact is that the beauty of a language can only be appreciated when somebody uses it to create something beautiful. One small revolution Maneskin are carrying on by themselves is to prove this, to prove that Italian can be used to make this kind of music; because the least supportive of all, in this aspect, are Italian people in the first place. Oh, well. Now that you've seen it and the lyrics, you more or less know what the song is about. Just like all the other songs about Marlena, it can be considered like a love song, but the love they are talking about, specifically, is for music itself; I mean, it certainly work for that feeling of losing someone you love, or for an ending relationship, but what they meant to address was the feeling of despair of being left without their art, without their inspiration. And if you watch the video of this song, that's exactly what it shows. And I suggest you to watch it, maybe react to it, in the future; because this version you've just heard is quite different, much more mature and grungy, I'd say. The original, studio version you can hear in the album is a ballad, produced by their much younger selves. So, I think it might be worth a comparison, even though I think there's not subtitled version of that one, unfortunately.

I'm also a big fan of these slow burner ballads too, this is one of my favourites from the new album. They know how to ride the wave and build up to these epic crescendos. Considering how much you enjoyed this one I recommend checking out their cover of a song called Amandoti. It's an Italian song, originally by a band called CCCP but also later covered by another artist, Gianna Nannini. The radio italia live or Rai 2 live performances are both great and the onstage chemistry between the band members is very intense. The lyrics of Amandoti describe a kind of toxic love and many say that it's about a relationship with heroin but you can interpret as you wish, that's part of the fun.
